For those who recognize my handle, I'm //still// waiting on my Tacoma!
In the meantime, I'm doing loads of research and getting shit together.
Does anyone have a line on the factory service manual for a 2015?

I believe TIS has factory service manuals to view, for a subscription.

I've never seen a hard copy or a .pdf of a 2012-2015 Tacoma.
All are subscription based. And the subscription based manuals are categorized and in subsections. (No one click download)

I'd go with TIS, followed by AllData then Mitchell

Or, you could ask on here if you have a specific question you need help with.

So, if I was somewhat .. obsessive, for lack of a better term, do you think 16 hours would be sufficient to grab every page? I'd rather not do a month, but if I have to, I will.

    I can't answer that question.
I suppose it's all in how you save the pages.
I just got PC last September. I hadn't had one for 11 years prior.
    For me? No, I couldn't.......
I'm still hitting the Print Screen button and saving each page.
And that takes too long for me.

I don't know how to do much on a PC any more.

I'd just grab the pages you think you'd need at a later data.
Then come back here and ask for the things you didn't get, should you ever need them later.

You can get 2 days of TIS for $25 if your persistent you can probably get most everything important.

I'd prioritize wiring, electrical, diagnostic and pinout stuff, most of the mechanical stuff is the same across all 2nd gens (05-15) but electrical had several change years.

If you ever need something specific just ask, there's a few of us with access to service info that can pull specific diagrams/info but we aren't allowed to post full manuals or links to bootleg copies.

There is an early 2nd gen manual floating around. For basic hardware it's fine. I'd not trust the electrical, and it wont have the SAIS

I'd happily venmo someone a few bucks for a PDF version for my truck though.

I really appreciate that; I fully expect to rely heavily on folks here as I progress with making my Tacoma into a 350K mile truck. I know air-cooled VW, Type I and III mostly, but not so much more modern vehicles.
Hopefully all of my work will be well planned, with plenty of time to consult you all on best methods. In my experience, vehicles occasionally throw a curve ball, and having key parts of the manual, paritcularly the bits you mention, on hand will avoid some intensely colorful invective, frightened and irate family members, and heartburn.
I will definitely focus on the areas you mention first, though, it makes absolute sense. I learned a long time ago, people who do not listen to good advice well intentioned deserve what they get. I do not expect to be that person. :)

If you are a tinkerer and like having a scanner for codes and troubleshooting... It's helpful to know that you can buy (on Amazon of all places) a cracked version of Techstream, Toyotas own scan tool. It's tricky to get installed, and might have a virus. But it's a nice tool to have if you have a spare laptop.

I found a install online with a virtualbox image. Made that super easy.

There's plenty of aftermarket scan tools that will do 99% of what Techstream will do, why risk it?

If you look around in the sticked threads at the top of this sub-forum there is a ton of information and links to information for 2nd gen trucks and Tacoma's in general.

I've never looked at it myself, but my guess is there's no way to save or download any page. If you could "Print", that would help, but I'm doubting that's available either. "Print Screen" maybe? Or if it would let me highlight and paste stuff.

I remember using a cracked version of TS in the past and used it to disable the seat belt alarm. That was great.

Yeah, I agree. For scanning, there's just so much safer options. I've been using my ScanGauge II since 2006 for all kinds of stuff.

It's all downloadable (or you can print to PDF) but it's in so many sections that it would take awhile to get everything.

My Autel and Launch scanners will both do that as well.

SG only reads engine codes and data though but yea I have one too, it's nice for monitoring coolant temp and battery voltage among other things.

What risk? it's the factory tool, and it's cheap... what is the downside besides the difficulty to install?

I'd love a Launch or Autel, but this was $30 and a laptop I had laying around.

There is a virtualbox image out there. I believe linux can run virtualbox and boot windows images?

Which launch version do you use? You mentioned earlier that it does about 99% of tis. I just got the xtool dongle, which seems pretty comprehensive, but haven’t really tested the bi-directional tools yet to see what kind of coverage exists. Definitely no ability to turn off seat belt chimes.

Ayup. VBox or Qemu, which is my preferred. Closer to metal than Vbox. Not as many bells and whistles; just depends on the expected use. Will find the img. Thanks!
