Can anyone thoroughly describe this wiring diagram for my back up camera? The screen doesn’t even go black when I put the truck in reverse. What is the difference between CA+ and V+ going to the camera? Any ideas on where to check first?

I believe -- but am not absolutely certain -- that the symbols are as follows:

CA+: power for the camera unit, and its light source
CGND: ground for the camera unit power, and its light source.

    V+: Video signal
    V- : Video signal ground

Note, CGND and Video Ground are separate and should NOT be tied together.

First question is do your reverse lights work?

Where does the V+ power come from? I have continuity between black and blue at both the head unit and back up camera, but nothing with red and white at the head unit or camera.

Yes and reverse wire has 12 volts at the head unit.

I don't think V+ is actually a "power" connection. I believe it's just the positive side of the actual video signal itself.

Someone else w/ more expertise on this will hopefully chip in. @Dm93 maybe.

I'll have to investigate later, I'm not home atm.

Got the camera working. After testing the wires for continuity found the problem was a bad connector. Was able to splice the connector out and camera works like a dream. Thank you for the responses!

That would be correct, V+ would be the positive video signal not a power connection.

You may be missing the trigger wire 12v input which is not in your diagram.
That is what switches the head unit into camera mode.

I’m not 100% sure but I think it’s Violet with a white stripe.
Measure the voltage in park then reverse, it should go from ~0v to 12v.
