    Hello,

I have a 2014 Tacoma and the backup camera picture on my center display is no longer showing up when i switch gears into reverse. I've attached pictures of my interior and my fuse layout, does anyone know which fuse the camera may be on? Any other ideas as to why the camera only shows a blank screen? I cleaned the lens so that isn't the culprit.

    Thanks

The radio provides power to the camera, there's no separate fuse to the camera.

Thanks for the responses. I noticed today that the volume on my speakers isn't as loud as it usually is either. Could this be part of the same problem with the back-up camera?

Do you have a friend with same year Tacoma and Tailgate cam? I've suggested this before in other threads, remove your tailgate and plug it into the known working display in friend's Tacoma. Go from there...

Unfortunately not. Another symptom that just cropped up is my CD won't eject. So now the list of issues is backup camera out, volume not as loud as it usually is on radio or Bluetooth, and CD will not eject.

I guestimate you need a new radio...

The plot thickens...I was riding on the interstate and hit a slight bump, heard a crackle noise on my speakers, and then full volume came back, CD ejected, and backup camera started working again. So this must be a loose connection, where would there be a connection that affects all of these things? Behind the console display?

    none so far!
I have the exact same problem!

2014 access cab manual trd and out of the blue the backup camera stopped working and the stereo's volume is way lower than normal.

    Did you fix the issue??

I've been pulling my hair out trying figure this out. I've checked every fuse, checked all the lights, beep sound when I shift in reverse and backup lights come on. I've tried checking all my connectors and tried to see if there are any chewed wires or anything else that looks odd. nothing works.

If anyone has a solution please share!!

The Toyota Stereos are crap unfortunately. Get an aftermarket unit and you will be better off and happy.

Maybe start with the connection to the tailgate, since that's at the far back end and bounces the most? And it's most exposed to the elements. Just speculating here, but I've got a '14 Tacoma as well, so paying attention to this thread

I would rather wait than install a crappy Toyota System that cost three times what it should. As is in evidence by this is his second factory stereo.

Maybe get another factory stereo if you could find a really cheap stereo that was removed from another truck.

I’ve been having issues after heavy rains.

when it’s on the home screen it’s like a ghost is pressing the 2nd person on my list.

today we had a very heavy rain and I had the same symptoms as people in this post:
    CD player acting up
Reverse cam image not showing up
    Volume low

about 15 minutes into my ride I heard a crackle and the volume went up.

so might be water getting in somewhere and it “dried out”

Just wanted to follow up on this. I've been having the same issue. Backup camera won't turn on and the audio is very low. Was considering replacing the backup camera in case the wiring was faulty to it. Not sure if that will actually do the trick. Has anyone found a solution?

    Thanks!

Check your connection under/behind the bumper. I’m pretty sure water was getting into mine since the plastic covering was coming away from the connections on both sides. Also my truck sits angled uphill and heavy rains would cause this issue. As if water is running out the back and into the connection.

recently I got the white screen and it wouldn’t turn off with the key out so I feared the battery would die.

I took it to the dealership and by the time they got it into diagnostics it was working fine. LOL

They ran an update and charged me for diagnostics that didn’t find anything. $300 later.

When I got home I cut the fingers off a rubber glove, slipped bit connectors thru it and zip ties the ends. No moisture whatsoever is getting in there. I’ve also started backing into my parking space. No heavy rains since so can’t verify it’s working.

I’m surprised this is the first time someone has mentioned the connectors. Would be the first place I’d start…loose or corroded wiring at the connectors, or loose/bent/corroded pins, seems like the most obvious answer given the symptoms all the way back to the beginning of the thread.
