2014 [Code ED] "Entune Audio Plus" is not 'Entune'?

This is a new head unit for 2014, option 'ED', $680. It's labeled "Entune Audio Plus". I think it's bundled with SR5s. It appears to have just about everything except NAV and JBL. It does a lot, XM Sat, HD radio, BT streaming, real time traffic (if avail), weather (if avail), voice recognition (kinda sorta), even reads text messages from phone, ...

So experimenting around, the only thing I could NOT get to work was the Entune app on an Android phone due to an "invalid VIN" when attempting to register it (before it would run). This would presumably allow you to interact directly with apps such as Pandora on the phone via the head unit.

Called Toyota about invalid VIN and they said I "...only have Audio Plus and not Entune" despite the fact it's called Entune Audio Plus in their documentation.

Not a big deal but just curious... is that correct: Entune Audio Plus is not 'Entune' in the generic sense of the phone app / interface?

    Thanks

Indeed. I just wanted the standard 'Display Audio' (I think they called it) but when I received the truck - they 'forced' this upgraded new for 2014 so-called Entune system on me to the 'tune' of $600 or so.

    Thanks

    Yeah,
toyota screws you with their marketing.

New for 2014 are 3 of the 4 different "entune" choices.

The basic 680 dollar option is just Entune Audio Plus which doenst have the APP suite where you can use your phone as a data hotspot.

The second option is the EE package which is Audio Plus with NAV and APP suite. This one you can use with your phone.

The top of the line $2330 EN package is the same as EE but with JBL speakers and subwoofer/amp.

Watch out for the sneaky dealers. Make sure you know what you're buying.

So does anyone know how/how much it is to upgrade from entune audio plus to the one that has the navigation?

For those with "plus" does your weather work with a shit? I am in Las Vegas, NV, it always reverts to Barstow, California.

Can you still play Google Music from your phone and fast-forward/rewind with the vehicle controls?

I have Entune Audio (no Plus) and I have been thinking about getting an Android phone under the assumption the head unit can at least control volume and skip tracks when you use the Google Music service, but I could be wrong!

Mine is spot on. I live in a city of 10K across the border from another of another of 200K and the weather is accurate. Can't imagine why yours is so far off. Since it's based on satellites, it isn't likely a problem with the radio itself. Is your "Home" set to Las Vegas?

I really only need navigation added to Entune Plus but it seems ridiculous to pay over $1000 just for that feature, when my phone can do the same thing, or I can buy a really nice Garmin for $80. I have however never found a good solution to mounting my phone or Garmin that keeps cables out the way and makes the GPS easy to handle. Are there any no-brainer solutions out there? TY.

Get the nav unit from FLTrucks on the forum for $450. Then sell yours for a couple hundred and you just upgraded for a couple hundred and are completely plug and play and stock.

Heated mirrors from @Up2NoGood. 5100 Bilstein all four corners.
I researched this as well prior to me getting my 2014 ACOR 4x4 package. Seems those only come with code ED Entune Plus w/o Apps/Nav. The only way to get that combo on that truck is to have the dealer code it FSR and EE for Boss Change and Entune Premium /Apps/Nav.

The Entune Plus is a Entune radio. You just don't ask for Apps to be added or Nav to be added to that system. There's a post on the forum re: this and you can search on FLTrucks who can get what you want (the Entune Premium Radio w/Apps/Nav). Personally my Garmin with lifetime maps is great, and, I can use it while driving, something the Entune is not capable of.

I don't stream music so the Plus is fine for me along with my Ipod. I will be doing something to get better sound from the system but that's about I. My '09 had JBL and I do miss that. The Nav unit I hear is useless as you have to update it often and pay $$$. The weather sucks so I'm installing the Gentex mirror with autodim/compass/temp (something Toyota went backwards on). My 2009 PreRunner had a great mirror w/autodim and the console above had the rest.

Good to know, thanks. Yeah, I really like Garmin + free lifetime maps. Nav units in cars can sometimes be hit or miss. I just never found a proper solution to hide cables with the Garmin. Re: FLTrucks. Are you referring to the guys in Winnipeg? Thanks.

I have this one on my 2014 DCLB SR5 4x4: Code EE

EntuneTM Premium Audio with Navigation8 and App Suite9—includes the EntuneTM2 Multimedia Bundle (6.1-in. high-resolution touch-screen with split-screen display, AM/FM CD player, six speakers, auxiliary audio jack, USB 2.0 port3 with iPod®4 connectivity and control, advanced voice recognition,5 hands-free phone capability, phone book access and music streaming via Bluetooth®6 wireless technology), HD Radio,TM8 HD predictive traffic and Doppler weather8 overlay, AM/FM cache radio, SiriusXM Radio7 with 90-day All Access trial, and Gracenote® album cover art.

Can someone please talk about the weather overlay and your experience with accuracy, applicability, accessing it, etc., etc..? I read the owner's manual but haven't used the feature yet.

No, FLTrucks is a member on the forum that offers the Entune Premium w/Apps/Navi that can be put in a Entune Plus truck. It's the entire radio and is pnp for most and some small mods for others. The other thing when swapping is you'll need a verified VIN to register the radio. If your truck did not come with one the VIN won't work.
