I have the update and am trying to install it but my touch screen is completely unresponsive. I can’t go to the update menu to run the update. Does anyone know if there is any other way to input into the radio? I don’t think a mouse would work but I donno at this point.

If you turn the truck on and let the radio boot all the way up then hold down the audio and turn the heads lights on and off three times, the diagnostics menu pops up. I can’t select any of the menus I’m stuck.

    I have a comment and a suggestion.

The stock Toyota Head Units are crap.

Go here and get a quality upgrade and be happy. They will guide you through and render tech support and provide everything you need.

Am I the only one who just turns the screen off - and leaves it off? Phone hooks up to Bluetooth as soon as I get in the truck and play everything from there.

I can't remember how but there is a way to do a hard reset , something about pushing and holding certain buttons.... if I run across it I'll link it.

It sounds like something out of a movie but if you following these steps it puts it in a config mode, when I saw this I said, “no way” but it really does work.

    1. turn key to accessory.
    2. Flip head lights on then off three times.
    3. Your pretty much a hacker.

this mode had a couple testing settings to include a touch tester for the screen and a button tester for all the buttons. It shows you what your pushing or if testing the touch it shows you it’s receiving your inputs every time you touch it. Crazy, but it didn’t really help to much the unit is just non responsive still it just showed me the touch screen and all the buttons are good.

the only hope I have right now is when it’s warmed up I mean you’ve drove the truck for a minute, it allows minimal ability to select settings and I’m going to get the updated software for a guy on Tacoma word that linked it and try to select update through the menus. I was able to do it one time but only had a Hard Drive which the usb I/O doesn’t push enough power to fire my external up, has to be a flash. I just hate waste unnecessary money but I guess I gotta buy a flash, sorry cheap ass here.

no definitely not, that’s my life usually. But this thing does all sorts of weird s*** sometimes. Steering wheel buttons won’t change the songs or Hangul on calls. When I’m on a call it will switch then to mute randomly then the touch won’t let me switch them off and on and on bull ****.
