Can i program my 2013 Tacoma prerunner 4 door crew cab key fob myself of do i have to take it to the dealer? I see on youtube that you can do it for 2013 but some sites say it has to go to the dealer, which cost to much. I have instructions on opening the door so many times insert key so many times and so forth. Can this be done by me or does a dealer have to hook it jp to a computer? Has anyone self programed their 2013?

If it's a Toyota dealer, they should have given you the key fobs, set up and ready to go before you bought the truck...the truck is keyless entry, so they should have provided you with the key fobs...

Sorry, but even at a used dealer, they still should have provided you with a key fob...

You can get them for about $50-60 online and then use the video i just linked to program it.

I'd take the one back to the dealer and get that $140 lol

+1 to all of this. I just programmed a new fob for my 2013 using this process, which is demonstrated in the video.

Note that programming a fob and programming an immobilizer chip key are two different things. Techstream software and an ODBII cable are required to register immobilizer chips with the ECU.

Update, yes, you can self program a 2013 tacoma with these instructions, i got my key fob today and it works. Dont know why some ebay sellers and dealers claim that 2011 and newer has to go to dealer and cant be programed, i did mine and it works fine. $10 dollars off ebay and works like a charm.

This is one advantage of having 11 year old technology in our trucks.
