Hi TW, I want to relocate my backup camera from the rear view mirror to touch screen display (non-entune). I know there is a lot for this from Camera Source but it's quite expensive so I want to ask anyone knows how to do it cheaper, I don't mind buying a plug or splice wires. Thank

    Basically stock for now.
If I remember correctly, Toyota used a 6v camera vs. a 12v camera so I dont think this is an option directly without some extra hardware.

Hit up the Crutchfield website, add your radio to your cart as if you were purchasing.

....they will show you the harness you need to get all factory "controls" to that head unit.

Buy the harness and ditch the head unit from your cart....

The video feed is not 6v DC...the power to make the camera function is. Remove the video wires to the rear view mirror and send to new head unit. So no worries.

20200725_203725.jpg 20200725_203215.jpg I have a locking PopnLock tailgate handle that had an empty slot for a OEM cam. I bought a Master Tailgaters handle and reused the camera for the PopnLock. May be an option if you don't want to deal with the OEM 6V wiring. Easy hookup: Power tapped to reverse taillight, ground to frame, RCA straight to Kenwood radio. Great option for some of us that didn't have the cam option. Cost was $87 shipped

Yes. Both tailgate handles is made for the OEM camera or aftermarket 12V equivalent.

The 6V thing is irrelevant. You can hook up 12V power to the OE camera and run it that way no problem. I have had mine hooked up to 12v power and use my anytime backup camera function for long periods of time and have been doing it that way for years.

Yes. You have to hookup the camera power wire into the reverse light trigger wire in the taillight assembly.

You can run one of the early OEM cameras on 12V?

Good to know. I was considering buying an aftermarket camera. I have a 2007 TRD that I installed a 2015 radio in and most recently added a tailgate with OEM camera. I have no plug at the bumper for it so I'll have to wire it myself from dash to bumper. I think I found a kit that breaks the Composite video out of the plug at the radio end but I'm stuck after that. I'm unsure how the camera plug pins out. Would you know that info?
