Looking to upgrade my 2012 radio in my Tacoma. I’d like a nice Bluetooth radio or something up to date. What are my options?

    thanks

I have a 2010 and went with a Kenwood excelon model. I've been very happy with it. Has Bluetooth and car play. I was able to mirror the Camera image from the mirror to also show on the kenwood screen. Install isnt that hard using the Maestro RR harness and T01

Personally, I'm less and less a fan of aftermarket head units. Sure, stock ones have their downsides but seems the last few times I've switched to something aftermarket and "modern" they just don't work well.

I put a stock 2014 radio into my 2010 so that I now have bluetooth streaming.

That could be an option if you aren’t worried about sound quality and other features. If you just want Bluetooth but not improved sound or other features such as displaying your phones navigation on the radio, a factory replacement may work

I have a 1-month old Sony AX3200 7" display head unit i'm about to remove.

Has android auto, apple carplay, bt streaming, usb media support, etc...

Not sure about shipping, but $200 + shipping?

I am going to be installing a pioneer 6600nex soon. I hope I like it for how much it cost, I am just waiting on a replacement wiring harness since crutch field messed up the first one.

No, you have to install using a wiring harness kit and tap onto power, ground, speakers, remote turn on, etc..

Just like any other aftermarket radio install

My Kenwood double din touchscreen was awesome, I gotta have my physical volume knob. But then it crapped out, was an expensive unit too. Idk how old it was, came with the truck.
OEM has better quality control, some have pondered swapping in the third gen head but others have said it will be too difficult :/

I would suggest going aftermarket headunit and get the harnesses needed. You will need a dash kit, and wiring harnes to make it much easier. Then add some sound deadening to your front doors and you may well be satisfied with the improvements. Where are you located?

    I’m in northern NY.

id probably be satisfied with a stock stereo from a newer truck. What years would fit my 2012?

Not sure about what years. You would need to search the audio forum.

I will do that. I’d love to just be able to slide an upgraded OEM one in and be done with it.
