    Howdy,
Just wondering if anyone has done this yet, but i have a 2005 tacoma 4-door prerunner trd sport.

i just ordered (not gotten yet)

    -front bumper cover
    -front bumper extensions
    -front bumper brackets
-lower radiator grille AKA the insert in bumper cover
    -both headlight assemblies
-both bumper fillers (pieces under headlights)
    -upper grille AKA 'the grille'
    -hood with buldge
    -both fog light assemblies
    -both tail light assemblies
** and got great deal on complete 2013 prerunner trd seat cushion covers to have the seats redone, all oem, from toyota $200 for front seats and backseats **
    etc

all 2012 parts, basically everything but the front fenders, from all my research it should be bolt on with a few bracket mods, anyone tried this yet and confirm or did i just spend a few thousand dollars (not including paint, lol) for nothing?

basically it has some scratches and a little hail damage, i bought it new, its long ago paid for and runs like a top! the new tacomas are lacking in quality so ifigured i would take the gamble since i had the extra money. a friend owns a shop so use of tools and equipment is free, and he said if i cover costs for paint, supplies, whatever we may need or use, etc he glad to help but of course i'm gonna slip him some cash afterwards. if all goes well i should have basically a 2012 outter and 2013 interior for just about $4,000 to $5,000 after all said and done.

    just curious

    cheers,
    disco

ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW!

RAD's truck is amazing! Thanks for sharing the link, I got most of my parts in today, still waiting on grille and insert, but will be starting the second they arrive.

I been rolling around under my truck on the ole creeper for a good while tonight just inspecting stuff and getting good idea of the time i need to allow for parts swap, etc. MAN the rust on the frame keeps getting worse, i didnt see anything like rusted out seems or rusted through metal, etc just mainly surface rust, but its spreading like cancer.

It got my attention really peeked so i went through and inspected the whole frame with a spotlight, every inch of it. I see a pattern, not sure if this has been said yet, but the rust always originates from cracks in the coating on the frame. NOT FRAME cracks just tiny stress cracks in the coating and this of course is in the locations where you have some flexing of the frame during normal operation.

THIS HAS TO BE a Toyota defect, the coating they used I mean, they should have a recall for sure! I signed up for every group fighting for it years ago, but man they need to step up!

My '79 jeep (except where we did mods, etc) still has original coating, not a spec of dust and it has been through sand dunes, 4' water and more mud pits that God knew he actually created, lol!

I sold my Bronco II, but the same thing, no rust at all and it went though more hell than any truck should, lol! I had a 3" body lift and 9" suspension lift i had fabricated for it custom before they were available from companies.

I sold this one also, but I even put all terrains on my Lexus RX AWD and would take it camping and run through clay and hit the dunes with it, not a single sign of rust. FYI - the AWD system on those RX's is unbelievable! When you used the equal split AWD even in sand, it wouldnt sink, when it detected one wheel free spinning it would compensate for that wheel , normal conditions all 4 were turning (until it detected something) but no where near what the traction control does. The best way I can describe it is it was just like a CAT. CLIMBING REALLY STEEP HILLS, like the almost strait up hills, it would freak out for some reason, not sure why, but it didnt like em and wouldnt do em, it would almost like quit responding???? I would have to back down the hill.

Not related, but the only other issue I had was the 'emergency mode crap' LOL I brought it in to Lexus like 20 times because it would all the sudden go into 'emergency mode' like kill A/C, Radio, any extra features, etc except what was needed to drive safely. FINALLY after so many trips to bring it in one of the head techs asked if he could just hang out with me one afternoon and ride around with me while I do my normal stuff to see if he could determine the problem because on numorous test drives no tech could make it do what I was complaining about?

It took about 20 minutes to find the problem, lol! Soon as we got on the interstate I turned the music up, BAMB! It happened! The tech kinda chuckled, he said no wonder, when we drive them to diagnose we don't turn the radio on so we can hear everything while driving. The sudden drop in voltage to that low of a level triggered that emergency mode or whatever.

Turned out, when the amps would peak they where dropping the voltage down to below 9v's. Upgraded alternator (Lexus paid) and a 3 farad cap, all good. But still pissed me the hell off!

As soon as there is a lift for them (i doubt there ever will be since the suspention is so complex) I will be first in line to by a used one for off-road use!

Will keep you gues updated on 2005 to 2012 mod :)

O,I more question, the upholstery, Toyota cushion cover or whatever, I have never done anything like this before is this something I can do or should I bring it somewhere to have done? Anyone have any experience with re-doing the seats with factory upholstery?

    cheers,
    disco

Does anyone know if just the front bumper from a 13 will fit on a 06? I don't want to change anything else. Just the front bumper cause someone is selling for cheap.

Front fenders are the same from 2005 - 2015
Front bumper, hood, grille, headlights are all different (05-11 or 12-15) but the fenders are the same 05-15.

But will the inner portion of the grille fit? Meaning can you swap out the factor inner part with a trd pro look? I ask because someone did it on here and almost wondered if it was a late 11 or something until I saw 2006. Anyways, thanks for the help.
