    Hello!

i am looking to purchase my first tacoma and i'm wondering what would be a fair deal for this tacoma? it's got 178,000 miles and i would say is in good to very good conditions. Frame is clean and its got an old man emu suspension, 2in lift. Also has a backup cam installed and apple play. All maintenance is up to date on it as well.

Let me know what you guys would pay for something like this, thank you!

Not that my purchase was very comparable to the one you are considering, but I bought a 2011 Tacoma PreRunner with 96k miles for 23k, including tax and title, in August of last year. Just to give you a number to bounce off of. I know I overpaid…

The market you are in matters. A lot.

Look it up on Edmunds and KBB. Run it in Carvana.

If it's priced right in a truck friendly area it won't last long. The mileage will deter a lot of the market though.

Look at some online used car sites like cars.com or autotrader or what have you, and see what comparable trucks are going for. I would guess that a fair price is around 16k with that mileage.

I bought a 2013 access cab 4x4 SR5 with 64k miles in January of this year, for $19k, and I thought that was a great price honestly, but I could have gotten something above 100k miles for $12-16k depending on location.

Looking at what else is for sale is the only way to know what price is reasonable.

Agree with the above. Most of us on this site have had our trucks months or years.

I have seen 1000 posts over the years where someone posts "I'm looking at X and they want $Y" and it doesn't matter what X and Y are....all you get is "That's too high".

Point being...a forum is a good place for lots and lots of things, but determining market price is not one of those. Best to check out similar vehicles.

When I was looking for my Tacoma, CarFax was a good site to look at. There were a lot of used cars on that site for sale. Ebay too. For a 2nd gen, I'd pay a lot of attention to where it is. The 2nd gens I looked at in Indiana weren't good. I had to go to south of the salt line to find a good one.

I bought my 2011 AC with 168k in late August of last year for 13k, completely stock. The mods should bring the value down a bit from that.

Those are great prices! Like someone else mentioned, location matters - a lot! My area is much more expensive than yours although around here access cabs sell for less than double cabs, but the AC's are also super tough to find.

@kevtacos you haven't provided much info, often, the devil is in the detail with values on this stuff. "Good to very good" condition is hugely subjective. One persons "good" is another persons "beat up". But since there's nothing else to go off, in my area a truck like that would fetch around $15k-20k depending on condition, records, color, mods...etc.
