Rust on the frame, probably the #1 concern.

IMO 2008 is better, at least for the TRD sport package, pre-09 had a mechanical LSD whereas 09+ has simulated (computer/Brake operated) LSD.

09 a good year as mentioned rust an check leaf springs not being flat. You don’t have to worry about the air pump or much else. I’d make sure all the maintenance is good an have fun.

It's not too bad. Rust will be the big concern. My '09 has rusted like a motherfucker in the NY winters

Where are you? I'd just make sure before you buy that it's had it's frame inspected, if the seller tells you it's been inspected make sure they show you the documented proof.

164k on my '09. No problems other than having to fix a bad cylinder coil at about 120k. Oh, and wheel bearings but that's due to 33" tires since 4k miles most likely.

Mine is at 130,000. It's sitting waiting for a new frame but other things I've needed are: both front wheel bearings at around 115,000, new rear springs from the previous TSB/replacement, and all the standard maintenance items. I'm in a rental 17 right now and while it's quieter than my 09 it's really not that much better and I actually prefer my 09's power delivery. Not sure what vehicle you're coming from but I will say the 09's stereo system is pathetic, I could never go back to using that and replaced mine with a kenwood.

I have a 09 Prerunner, other than routine maintenance my only problem has been the front wheel bearings. I had to replace both sides at 107k. I just had the frame CRC done, the service folks tell me my steering rack is leaking. I'll have to crawl under and over the truck this weekend to check it out. Make sure you look at the maintenance history as well as checking for accidents etc. Oh yeah I did have my leaf springs replaced under the recall. It's been a good truck for the most part, almost as solid as my former Ranger.

small little lift, with little nice tires, and poorly plasti dipped badges.
2009 trd sport. Haven't had a single issue with it. sitting at 97k right now. Has leaf springs replaced via recall and waiting on frame spray. Neither were having issues though. I'm running 285 70 17 with a 3in level and aal in back and front spacers for 75k. Just now put on 275/70/17 kO2s. subwoofer in middle of back seat is dumb. Don't know why I haven't ripped it out yet, but I never use the back seat so who cares.
