2009-2011 Smoked Headlights

Can anyone share a few pictures of your Sport smoked headlights... was going to go aftermarket black but sounds like OEM quality is the way to go.... just not sure how dark these smoked ones actually are. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the pictures... for oem quality that's dark enough for me. Should go good with a new color matched radiant red sport grill!

 

OEM is definitely the way to go for performance and quality.

Here is a pic of the difference in 12-15. 05-11 will be similar.

 

Thanks... hoping Toyota did something about the dtrl lens melt problem. Any idea what the cure (if any) was?

 

That was fixed long ago and everyone that had the issue was eligible for free replacements. The replacement time period has elapsed now.

Unfortunately last I checked the updated TSB headlights were out of stock, so only the old light design was available. Unsure if/when that will change. I was able to find an updated set by searching eBay and online dealers via part number to make a matching pair.

well... that explains why the seller won't answer my question if the lights are updated...lol. Looks like they're selling old part numbers.

 

I’m n the same boat. Thinking about buying the old style and trying to just disconnect the DTRL. If that’s possible

 

Alternatively, while LED replacements are not ideal, you could run an LED in the DRL which should be much cooler and prevent the melting issue in the old model lights.

 

i wonder if a lower watt bulb would work?

 

Might want to look at reviews by members here first. "Excellent quality" is not a phrase seen very often with them. @crashnburn80 might have some insight too.

 

Tacoma beast lights are junk.

 

Is there a difference in the dtrl lens between the old and new? Are the new version dtrl lens clear and the old model yellow?

 

I believe they are glass instead of plastic. If I’m wrong someone can correct me on that. I was told they changed to glass so they won’t melt. Mine are melted pretty bad.

 

They are not glass.

Yes. The old ones have the dirty yellow tint to them.
