I am looking into making the ride of my truck a lot smoother. I will be having the frame replaced in a couple months and am looking into options to for making the ride not so rough. Every bump seems to be quite noticeable. Currently have pretty much stock everything except for BFG K02 , I believe that's what they are. I am not a extremely knowledgeable in in the mechanic side of the world but was going to get Toyota to put them on when the new frame in installed. A background of how I drive is that I have a snowmobile that I would haul in the winter up here in Atlantic Canada. Would not really got crazy off-roading only take my time looking for camping spots or to find a place to drop my 4 wheeler off. Other than that I use it for my daily commute to work. Not sure how much I wanna spend because there are arguments for spending a little more cash and getting a better quality or just trying to satisfy my need for a smoother ride with being price conscious.

If anyone has suggestions it would be greatly appreciated, also if it is possible to have some Canadian companies that would be great as our dollar is in the toilet as usual lol. Also will help on shipping costs and any other randoms costs through border stuff

    Thanks again!!

I would consider the bilstein 5100's but I'm wondering if your looking to lift it or leave it @ stock height?

No not really looking to lift the truck up at all, i was contemplating putting in leveling kit that came with the truck but haven't decided yet. Ok are those on the high end or middle of the road.... in relation to what a reasonable person can afford not the really nice fox shocks that are crazy expensive lol? Also the bilstein 5100 provide a nice smooth ride, my current 2008 tacoma is a base model so what ever shocks they have on there seem to ride hard as hell and even the tar filler strips for cracks in the road are very noticeable when driving. I did check my tire pressure and my BFG Ko2 are running anywhere from 26-30 psi so I believe that is in the usual range.

    Thanks

All tacos ride ruff naturally lol even when u upgrade your suspension it'll still ride choppy but it won't be as harsh as when it was factory. When I upgraded my suspension to the TRD pro shocks I noticed a difference in ride quality the bumps didn't feel as harsh anymore & felt like I had more control over the ruff stuff the truck doesn't bounce u around on your seat anymore nor the rear end doesnt sway side to side as much I've never had any experience with the 5100's but it'll be a much better upgrade from oem.

OK awesome thanks for the info I will definitely look into these for an option. I was also wondering if it was normal to replace just the fronts or do both the rears and the fronts? Most threads I have read have gone with a different brand in back, but it seems like everyone's main concern on here is lifting the truck which I am not really concerned with, I am just trying to make the ride less rigid and clunky. I think I found a set of front bilstein 5100's on a Canadian website for like $150 per, and the front and back for roughly $600-$700 which I thought seemed like a solid price but wanna make sure that it is going to be noticeably different if I am gonna go out and bother getting this upgrade.

    Thanks again

If I were you I'd just do all 4 & what's great about the 5100's is that the front is adjustable from stock - 2.5" ride height so u can just level out the front U can mix/match any brand of shock front/back just as long as they're the same length & travel. Check out vendors like toytec or rouge off road there are lots of vendors on here that'll give u good deals & advice that's all I can say but anyway good luck!

I upgraded from stock to 5100s about a year ago. While there was a noticeable improvement, it certainly wasn't dramatically better. If you've still got the original shocks, you might get what you're looking for just by putting on new stock shocks.

Yea I still have the original shocks on it and they do not seem to even wanna take a bump.... every little hiccup in the road is noticed so hopefully this can partially solve my issue. Thanks again

Your original shocks my not have any more oil in em anymore since u noticed that they don’t absorb the bumps as good did u ever go underneath & inspect all the shocks if you saw any oil deposits outside the shock bodies? But none the less just change all 4 anyway.

I thought most vendors sold outta these I wouldn't of thought that some places still have these in stock still for the discount price cuz when I bought my set from rouge OR I got em for $799.
