Hey guys, sorry if I upset some of y’all by asking this… BUT, I’ve tried doing some research and looking at reviews AND even using the ‘ol search button but I’m coming up empty handed. I’m wanting to buy some new headlights for my 2007 and I can’t seem to find anything with enough reviews or something I feel comfortable with overall so I’m asking the masses. Once upon a time I bought a set of aftermarket headlights for my VW Golf and they randomly turned off one night and never came back on so I’m super skeptical about buying headlights now. Any help or link y’all can throw at me to a website or forum is super appreciated!! (Also I’m not looking for anything crazy like retrofits unless someone has a way to do it under, say $500.)

    Search for 'ultimate headlight upgrade'

I'm assuming you are interested in usable light output, not pretty boy mall stuff.......

Absolutely, my truck might be street queen but one thing I don’t mess with is the ability to see at night. And I’ll give that a look for sure!

Why do you want new headlights? What are you trying to accomplish? Is there anything wrong with the ones you have now?
There’s a lot of after market lights out there but if you look through the posts on TW about them you’ll find numerous complaints with many of the after market lights..

Yup that’s why I thought I’d make this original post. However I have since bought lights and am very pleased with them.

Cringe. Spyder are some of the lowest performing and worst quality lights out there, but they prioritize differently styled designs if that is what you are interested in.

So what is recommended to replace very yellowed oem lights? I've used refurb kits several times and they are just shot.

The refurb kits work great but what many don’t know is that you need to spray UV protectant on them afterwards. If you don’t they yellow and oxidize after a month or so. I did my lights 3 or more years ago. I put protectant on them every 6 months and they still look like new (and my truck is outside 24/7). Here’s a pic of mine after 3 plus years and the product I use.CE27F836-5B6F-4952-B33E-3231DE34A208.jpgC1FE82B7-4A4E-488D-AFA3-D19974D6A079.jpg

They’re better than the cracked, hazed, yellowed headlights that were on my truck

That’s how mine were. I just got some cheap spyder ones and they’re WAY better than the stock ones

ultimate head light upgrade...ish for me. I went back to OEM headlights and installed racingvision GT200 which is the stock wattage option. way better than the crap people are selling for ridiculous amounts.

Way better that new OEM lights or way better than the yellowed / oxidized OEM lights? Hint: Since you replaced your yellowed / oxidized OEM lights with the Spyders, you really don't know if they're better than new OEM.

Even if you just order the wiring harness or build you own custom harness for the Ultimate Headlight Upgrade, factory headlights will perform significantly better. If you need more light because your lights are beyond refurbishing, get new OEM if staying halogen. If retrofitting, do it RIGHT and install PROPER HID projectors that are aimed appropriately.

99% of the aftermarket "factory replacement" are just bells and whistles with output that pales in comparison to good condition OEM with a wiring upgrade.
