Starting another BS thread for my new to me GTO. 6.0L v8 makes this car super fun even though it has a curb weight around 3800lbs. This is my first v8 and "domestic" even though it was technically imported from Australia. No huge plans currently but im sure ill be doing little by little.

    Great Find! So 6.0L = 400cid, Right?
I have a similar story. The Pontiac GTO was offered for the Last Time in '74 as a Ventura option then sadly faded into oblivion. Never actually drove one but it came with a Pontiac 400 & a shaker hood. Some time later, I bought a '75 Ventura & shortly after swapped in a Pontiac 455 out of a '70 GTO Judge. 370 stock HP & 510ft. lbs. made it a fun ride. Still have that Car but it's in need of some modernization.

very awesome. we have a 74 nova with a 350 sitting in our garage that we are working on as well. just bought it last august.

the older stuff is definitely tough to me, everything is fragile.

I hear You. I blew up two GM 10 bolt rear ends. The one i've got now is the original '74 GTO 3.08 Posi but I drove it easy. This time a Dana 60, 3.73 is goin' in & the Engine is goin' 481cid.

not at all. im hoping its a nice solid shift compared to the stock and helps with the notchy feeling. ordered a polyurethane trans mount to do at the same time as well

Good Choice. Can you get motor mounts as well? If so, do it.

apparently with the t56 is likes to break stuff but im not completely sure what. i havent done enough research on that end yet.

i do love it for a daily though. ive been driving it constantly since december even in snow (id rather use my truck to keep the salt off the car but i let my gf use it). its just so comfy and cruises so nice.

got my poly trans mount today. it is a nice solid hunk. then read on the forum that engine mounts need done at the same time otherwise there is a risk of cracking the bell housing. ugh. ordered engine mounts

i didnt even think of that so im glad someone decided to make a post.

didnt get the matching set though. $100 more just didnt seem justifiable. the trans mount is definitely nice though.
