I started my truck the other day and noticed my airbag light as on. When I went to scan it, the light turn off by the time I got my scanner so I thought nothing of it. However the light kept coming back on and turning off for a few days until I finally was able to scan the car again and it give me code
B2799 immobiliser system fault. Now reading up on this it seems like somewhat of a common issue however everyone that has this problem says their car will start and won’t start sometimes or won’t start at all. My trucks an 06 so there no key fob or anything like that and I haven’t really found any fixes for the people that have have the no start issue. Any advice on what’s going on so I can get that dash light off? Also has anyone else experienced this issue where their truck runs perfectly normal with this code? I’m hoping that I won’t experience the no start issue in the future which is why I want to try and fix it as soon as possible since I have some road trips planned soon. Any advice helps thanks!

Yeah I know that. Could that be a problem where maybe I need a new key? Still starts every time though

If your airbag light is on it isn't because of the B2799 code.

B2799 is a communication error between the Immobilizer ECU and PCM, a fault in the key or transponder will typically set a B2796 or B2798.

    From the FSM:

    DESCRIPTION:

This DTC is output when one of the following occurs:
    1) the ECM detected errors in its own communications with the immobilizer code ECU
    2) the ECM detects errors in the communication lines
    3) the ECU communication ID between the immobilizer code ECU and ECM is different and an engine start is attempted.

    DTC Detection Condition:

    • Error in communication between ECM and transponder key ECU, and in communication line
    • Communication ID is different during communication with transponder key ECU

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Maybe unplug the yellow wires at the impact sensors mounted on the front bumper reinforcement then plug them back in to maybe clean the terminals.
