    2003 Tacoma TRD Offroad
Hi, just joined! I'm looking into upgrading wheels, tires, and suspension on my 2003 TRD offroad. Thinking about going to a 265/75 or maybe a 285 if possible. There seems to be a really slow parts pipeline for lift kits (Icon was 20 weeks out!) so I'm just going to do wheels/tires first.

I've searched for this, but maybe it's just too dumb of a question or I'm searching for the wrong thing. The TRD Offroad is obviously already pretty "lifted" compared to a non-offroad Taco. If I get an aftermarket lift kit that says 3", is that lifting beyond where it is today? Or is it relative to a non-TRD Offroad? I.e. is my truck already a 2" lift and this will just be 1" more?

My main concern is just so that whatever wheels/tires I get now will fit with my current suspension but not look puny once I do upgrade suspension/lift.

    Thanks!

You’re way off on TRD OR. I believe it’s just better shocks and springs, so no it’s not a 3 inch lift.

I believe you, but there's a pretty huge visual difference at the side view of a Tacoma TRD OR vs other Tacomas. Looking at https://www.autoblog.com/buy/2003-Toyota-Tacoma-Base__4x4_Xtracab_121.9_in._WB/specs/ (ground clearance 10.8") vs. https://www.autoblog.com/buy/2003-Toyota-Tacoma-Base__4x2_Regular_Cab_103.3_in._WB/specs/ (ground clearance 8.5") suggested to me that the it might be a 2" lift for the stock OR.

All a TRD-equipped vehicle adds is a rear locker, decal, and shocks.

The coils and leaf pack, which support weight and provide lift, are the same whether the vehicle is a 4x4 or 4x2 (Prerunner).

    That said, they're the same.

Before anyone goes suggesting anything, did you venture to look at your question that's been asked many times each and every day?

You'll see the common questions asked to those looking for answers are; what's your budget? what's your intended purpose?
