I'm going to go look at a '02 DBL cab Tacoma tomorrow
I'm already a Tacoma owner ,2013, Looking at this to use as a DD and not put so many miles on the '13

2wd 4 dr automatic, 272K miles being sold by 2nd owner
    What should I look at?
    Any problems with that year?
    They are asking $6800.00
    Thanks

Pretty much stock with some crap welded to it.
I'd look at the frame for rust.

well the standard frame rust is something to watch for and beyond that expect to replace everything in the front end and new shocks all around for any first gen you buy but to be honest that's too many miles so look for something in the mid to low 100+k miles. personally I would pass on anything over 200k miles because it is getting into the mileage where you can expect engine wear to be a big concern and have to factor in an engine rebuild or replacement by the time it gets near 300k miles even though some happily go to 400k miles.

you will be able to find the same truck at around 120-150k miles and it will be the same price or maybe even cheaper then the one you are looking at

I've got 376,xxx on my '02 DBL cab with the 3.4L. No problems at all.
