The heater in my 2001 will only blow cool air. If I'm honest it started last winter. I noticed that it was not getting as warm in the truck on my way to work in the mornings, but I couldn't do anything about it. Now, this year, the heater does not blow ANY warm air, only cool air.
The AC also does not work. Are these two systems related?
Right now, as winter is coming on, my priority is getting the heater working. I'm looking to buy parts and get the situation fixed, but I really have no idea where to start. Does anyone have any advice?

I don't know. I'm not even sure where to find it or how to even test it to find out if it is working or not. My mechanical knowledge is extremely limited.

Heater control valve is located in the engine bay by the firewall (centered). Make sure the cable and heater hose are present and valve is opening and closing.

Yes, the blower fan works, it just blows cool air.

Is the coolant level low? If yes, top it off and see if the heat comes back

If it's full, grab both heater hoses going into the firewall and see if they're hot. If both hoses are toasty warm you may have a blend door issue.

If one is warm and the other is cold you may have a heater core blockage

I know the coolant level is good, but I will do the hose check that you mentioned. I really appreciate the advice.

So my heat wasn’t working the other day and I figured out after a few minutes of investigation that the cable that controls the opening and closing of the heater core valve (attached to your climate control dial) wasn’t working and was bound up. I detached it from the valve, sprayed it good with some lubricant and worked the dial back and forth to make sure it was working properly and let the lube soak in. I hit it Again with a quick spray and reattached to the valve and worked the dial back and forth. It works great now
