I am a new member and am so excited to share my current project with you - a conversion of my 2000 Tacoma Shortbed into a Homemade Popup Camper. Construction on the bottom half is nearly complete. Next, priming and painting the exterior, and then constructing the popup roof with a design of which I am proud. I hope you enjoy my project. Let me know if you want me to keep posting photos as I progress. The sleeping bed is 4’ x 6’2” and the floor space is roughly 4’ x 5’ - The overhang is only 8” on each side, no wider than my stock side view mirrors - I ripped off the windows from the fiberglass shell I previously had on my truck.

Before the side windows got cut out. I dropped the tailgate down and built around it.

Windows temporily in place. There will be a door cut in below the flipup rear window.

Again, I hope you enjoy! Frank.

Looks cool are you going to put some bracing around the top? Are you going to cover/water proof it with something?

Looks great. I love seeing people build stuff.

I built a wood bed cover that was about 6 inches tall. It worked great for about 2 years, then mushrooms started growing in it. What are you doing to weather seal the wood?
