I just picked this truck up last week for $6900. It’s a 2000 2.7 4cyl 5 speed manual 4x4 regular cab. I’ve been walking past this truck with my dog and would stare at it for over 7+ years and always wondered what was underneath the car cover. I could only see the tires and a quarter of the bed because it was hidden. Long story short I was walking my dog past the house last week and the 85yr. Old owner happen to be taking out some trash at the time so I asked her about it. The truck was her oldest son who died back in 2014 so it’s been sitting and you could tell it was hard for her to talk about it. I asked if she was selling it and she said yes! Looks like a relative back a few years ago put a new battery in. The oil on the dip stick looks beautiful and new. The truck is immaculate with 133,000 original miles. No leaks that I can see. The inside and outside is a 9 out of 10. Has a small dent near passenger side but it’s not to bad. This truck is beautiful! Because it’s been sitting the battery was dead so we charged it up and the truck started with no hesitation. Absolutely amazing! This thing drives like a dream. I felt like I needed to act fast and offered her $7000 she gave me $100 back to get it detailed because it was dirty from sitting under a cover. I was so excited I didn’t think to look at the frame for rust. I took it home and noticed some surface rust but don’t see anything major. This truck did live in Colorado for 14 years before being driving to California where it sat for 7 years. How do I figure out if the frame has been replaced?
im not very knowledgeable with this generation Tacoma and could use any input or info that would help me get longevity out of this truck other than coolant flush, oil, spark plugs etc.
I will be keeping this truck forever!

    Thanks

I signed up with Toyota owners.com and I don’t see the frame replacement. Only thing this site says is “Toyota Trailer Towing Wire Harness Converter” recall. This can cause a failure of the converter, and if a trailer is being towed at the time. However on the drivers side frame someone marked the letter “F” in permanent ink. Does this mean anything? I was reading that if you see an “F” sticker it means your frame has been replaced. I’m wondering if the sticker fell off or got worn and someone wrote it. Thank you for any help.
