hey guys, just wanted to know if adding 2" rear blocks on my sr5 would be good, running the pro comp nitro leveling kit w/ hitachi shocks and struts, and if there is any brand you guys recommend? Thank you in advance

I used MotoFab 2' blocks with no issues on my TRD OR 4x4 DCSB. Used those because they were fabricated blocks, which are better IMO and powder coated to minimize corrosion. Bare aluminum blocks will corrode faster.$.02

I ran a revtek block kit in my truck and took it out cuz the ride was pretty terrible... however everyone's experience varies with it and it's such a cheap/easy mod that u could always throw it on and take it off if u didn't like it.

Don't do it. You will hate the ride. It will ride like a Dump Truck (harsh and stiff). Get an Add A Leaf pack and some better rear shocks. You spent a lot of money on your truck. Lift it with quality components.

Just my advice. See my signature below for links to the bilstein 6112/5160 with 1.5" AAL setup. It's a great lift and will improve your ride quality and handling on and off road. Otherwise call Marie at Headstrong or Stephen at Wheelers Offroad and they can help you get something that will perform better than blocks and spacers. You get what you pay for man!!!

Blocks are for if you're too cheap to do it right. (mall crawlers)

Everyone has their own take on rear blocks and how they ride but the bottom line is blocks are a alternative way to lift the rear for a Mall Crawler. The reason people complain about the ride is because the shocks are not compatible with the lift added. Boss 2.0 with 2" blocks ride like stock on a TRD 4x4 OR DCSB. As a DD truck that that may see sand and dirt roads, blocks work for me. $.02

I have the toytec aal on mine currently and installing a 1 inch block i have laying around here when I get a chance.
Try that route if you need more than 1.5 inches. To be honest I used a rough country aal on one of my 2nd gens for years and it lifted a full 2-2.5 and had no complaints.

I have monster 4" blocks in the back and it's just fine. No harsh ride, no axle wrap. I'm not, by any means, a hardcore off roader, and probably wouldn't run them if I was. I didn't want to roll the dice and guess on stance with expensive leaf packs when I could get dialed in with blocks first. The Maxtrac blocks are powdercoated gunmetal so it matches the MGM color nice. Got em from Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road

I'll replace with leaf packs later now that I know how it stands with the overall lift, but for now the blocks work great.

Are you saying adding blocks between the factory rear leafs and the rear axle will change the stiffness of the rear spring rate from factory? If I understand correctly, it will cause no change, and an add a leaf pack will actually cause the rear spring rate to change based on the new leafs added (generally stiffening up the rear end). It make sense to me to use lift blocks in the rear unless your adding weight in th bed like a bed rack loaded with a RTT or a camper shell, etc..

WRONG! how can it ride rougher? same spring, same shock, same valving... if it is a pavement princess or light off roader, you dont need to drop a bunch of coin like the set up, you suggest. Ski

Most 4X4 trucks use spacer blocks from the factory. They always have. My Tacoma is stock, for now. But I replaced the factory 1 1/2" block that came on my F150 with a 3" block to raise the rear about 1 1/2". Initially I just did the block for a couple of weeks until I could get new shocks and struts. With just the block there was no difference in anything other than the rear was 1 1/2" higher. After replacing struts and shocks the ride improved considerably.

If someone only needs/wants about 2" of lift for slightly larger tires and if they are happy with the factory suspension a block in the rear is a cost-effective way to go. I wouldn't go more than 2" taller than stock. If you need more lift than that, or if you want to put together a desert racing machine then this isn't the way to go.
