I just bought a 2014 4 door TRD Off Road

Would like a simple and the best 1-2 inch lift one can buy. I would like to be able to level the truck and add just a little lift. I will run a 265 70 17 tire which is 1" taller than stock.

I like the feel of the ride now a little stiffer would not hurt , from what I am seeing the 5100's seem to be the way to go. Am I correct.

Where to buy in Canada would help .

    Thanks

Any if the adjustable coilover a such as King, Fox, or Icon, will be pretty close to the best you can buy. Easy to install just change out the shock and since they're adjustable, you can set the ride height for the front. The back, you will either want a new leaf pack or just an add a leaf to the existing spring pack.

Can't help ya on the Canada part though.

This is 5100 at .85 and eibach coils stock in the rear but gives you idea up front its 2.5" of lift and on 275/70/17 tires rides amazing and was a fraction of the price of adjustable coil overs and will serve me just fine for my needs.

The front looks good, the back now seems a little lower. I would want to level this off but keep the ride quality equal or better. What would I need in the rear to level the truck to match the front?

A suspension that is little stiffer would be ok , I just want a quality product that does not sag or drop at all . I have ordered Cooper Discoverer AT II 265 70 17 which is 1" over stock. This would be as much as I want as the truck will be on the highway and city driven 98% of the time.

Quality and stability most important regardless of price. Best options one can think of please.

If you want the best, you should be looking into King, Fox, Icon, etc. Something fully adjustable and rebuildable. A good quality, simple lift would be something like OME with 884 coils or the Ironman lift kit if you can still find it. For the rear, I like the Icon 3-leaf AAL with the overload leaf still in place.

But, if you don't have 3k to spend on shocks, get some 5100 shocks front and rear and Eibach Springs. The Eibachs will give you 1.6" of lift and level you out

Like I said I did nothing to the rear all you would need to even it out is an aal

Kings icon ect is a waist of money for someone not wanting to off road the ride quality on my 5100s and eibachs is great on and off road and for a fraction of the cost... There is always better but its not always needed

Exactly to many people on this form try to push off road coilovers on people.. Yes they are great but cheaper options are just as good for the majority of people

I was looking at the Boss Suspension System from ToyotaTec , it's $1300 but certainly complete.

I do think the 5100's will do it for me with the aal ( that means add a leaf right?) for the rear. My truck is brand new, so if I can use the stock springs and just add the aal for the rear this would be simple. I figure 2" is enough overall but to level it out I guess the minimum is 3" front and 1.5" rear with the aal. Or I could just add 5100's to the front to get the 1.5 and go with a slightly larger tire. 2" of left overall would get'r'done.

    I have a 265 70 17 tire ordered but could switch to a slightly taller tier again like a 32. I think the 265 70 17 is 31.6" od. Don't want to ruin the
gas mileage too much, like I said, I mostly city and highway drive.

if you are looking in that price range the complete icon kit would for sure be the best option. They sell a couple kit for around 1400 I belive. Check the down south motorsports website. My truck came from the dealer ship with 275s I would look in to at least that size if not 285s if going with anything higher then 2" but that's just my thought I think my 275sblook small with 2.5 " of lift up front

there a couple of toyota dealerships in alberta that sell all of the toytec items, they actually stock the parts. go into the regional forum for canada and there is a thread about the places to order from here in canada.

my suggestion is if you don't want too much lift run ome 884's up front on ome shocks with the trim packer and an add a leaf in the rear, run whatever rear shock you like with this, personally i ran the skyjacker h7045 rear shock because they were half the price and an inch longer for better travel. the rid was great and i abused them with no issue.

Look up Rancho Quicklift complete front strut. Ride quality is comparable to Bilstein 5100s, but no assembly is required.

National4WD (now acquired by 4WheelParts) is a large off road store chain in Canada. You can also order directly from RockAuto, Wheeler's Offroad or TRDParts4U in the US and just pay the taxes and brokerage fees (sometimes still cheaper than buying from Canadian source).

I'd personally opt for the Ironman Kit, its complete and engineered to work together on the Tacoma. Its a 2" lift with everything you'll need, Coils, shocks, new leaf pack, all new bolts, etc.

    http://www.metaltech4x4.com/Toyota-Tacoma-2013_p-622-ironman-4x4-05-tacoma-lift.aspx

If not that, then the complete OME kit with the 884's or 885's and a matching AAL.

Better to have a Kit designed to work together, then a pieced together kit. Not bashing but if you have the $$ for a complete kit, why not?

you are wrong! It is up to the person buying the shocks! if you want a bilstein cool but icons are nicer and ride a lot smoother than bilsteins do.

I never said they were not better I agree they are 100% and I also never flat out said do not get them if you keep reading after he talked about budget . I just don't agree with how hard adjustable coilovers are pushed here when in most applications it is over kill.

Sorry you dussagree but if I could help someone save money by recomindung a setup that works just fine for less. I feel like I should put that out there when everyone else is leaving out optiins . if op wants to spend more then by all means I hope he does get icons ,kings ect cause they are great but also in needed in most situations.

This OP just wants a simple 2-3" lift that is as good as the stock , dependable and safe. 98% of the time will be city/highway and have to use the truck for work occasionally carrying up to 1000lb max. Too much lift would make the truck unsuitable for work and highway driving.

I've ordered the Bilstein 5100's and aal for the rear. 2.5 front and 1.5 rear spring will level it out. Many are happy with this so I'm going to start there.

Its a good choice off road coilovers are great but I highly doubt you will be dissapointed with eibacs and 5100s ride is 10 times better then stock on and off road I'd you ask me and saves tons of money for other mods to your truck

I really failed with that quote in my last post... But it was 4 in the morning lol

Based upon my personal experience, I would recommend that you get an Old Man Emu lift kit from Toytec - with 884's up front you'll get about 2" of lift, and with the 1.5" AAL on your stock 2+1 TRD OR leafpack it will be just about level. I have the same truck as you and that's what I did. With the 5% TW discount, it was $780, and that includes having the coils and struts pre-assembled as a coilover unit.
