Curious as well. Don’t want to go up more than 2” front and rear.

OME Lift Kit: Front 90021 shocks with 885 coils. Nitrochargers 60091 shocks in the rear. Medium Duty Dakar leaf pack. 17 in TRD rims wrapped with Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 265/70/17
OME makes another option. It's non adjustable though. Same set up I have on my truck. I even got some LR UCAs to make alignment easier. Ride quality did improve. You'll be able to do some mild off roading. IMG_20190416_194759.jpg IMG_20190416_152527.jpg

5100's have four notches, put it on the third one; you will not need new UCAs. I had mine set to the highest setting and I was fine with the OEM UCAs. Minus well put a 1/4" 'lean' spacer on the driver side while you're at it.

This is what I am doing: 2018 strut/coil assemblies that I was given (500 mi!) and then a 3/4 spacer. You can find these strut assemblies on the forum here-don't spend more than $100 for a complete set. What I am doing with the spacer will give me 1 1/2 (in theory) for the front-the 3rd gen parts give approximately 1 inch. 2 1/2 in front for a total expenditure of $150. In the back I am looking at Icon or SD 3 leaf progressive. This raises the back about 2" and is about $200. You could just add a block for $50. Additional expenditures include a front end alignment and a half a day of tinkering.

Mine will never see the Rubicon or any "hard" off roading. Even so, as capable as these trucks are I don't see the uca replacement route as necessary for this amount of lift AND some hard off roading. Some of these guys bust big trails, but you will also note that there are a lot of 'mild' trucks out with them... Really just a matter of spend a lot or put up with the 'shame' of a spacer. Me? Spacer will do the job, and do it well (and my skin is THICK.) Just my nickels worth.

Did the same and I love it. The truck handles much better but It is a touch bit firmer. I used a 1/2 spacer and toytec aal in the rear. We are getting ready to do my brother in laws with the same lift but a 3/4 spacer.

nice thread. I've got a question for you guys who know whats out there...

This is a description of the factory upgrades for a baja series tacoma

    upload_2019-5-6_10-24-43.jpg

The stock front shocks are ditched in favor of huge 60mm Bilstein shocks with special valving and 3-inch TRD springs that lift the front about an inch and a half to level out the Taco when compared to stock. Out back, a three-leaf spring pack from the Toyota parts bin replaces the standard two-leaf pack and 50mm Bilstein reservoir shocks handle rear damping duties. The jounces have also been reworked to provide less harshness during engagement. Once the suspension mods are completed, wheel travel increases by 1.25 inches in the front to 9.25 inches and by 1.5 inches in the rear to 10 inches.

What model shocks are they talking about up front? Clearly something beefier than the 5100, but you don't read about them here, that I've seen.

I'd love to see the above lift spec'd out.
