    Hey guys,

So I am looking to rent a house with 2 car garage to live temporarily. I need a garage that can fit my 19 Taco and 18 T4R. Does anyone have this combo and park in their garage? I talked to a couple of coworkers in the area and they said the 2 car garage houses around here were really "small". They've seen my truck and I've shown them pics of the T4R, and they said there was no way both vehicles would fit in a garage.

So if you have this combo and you garage it, can you share the size of your garage? I image it would be a very very tight fit...

    Thanks all!

I just checked our blueprints. The main part of our garage is 22'6" deep by 19' 6 1/2" wide. While we have a RAV4 now, my mother in law has a 4runner that I pulled in to make sure it fits. It's no issue. More room would be great, but wasn't an option on the lot we choose. I have a 24 inch wide snowblower in front of my truck (DCSB) and a refrigerator in front of her car, both can be accessed no problem.

I have a small 2 car garage. My wife has a Chevy Traverse and I have a long box Tacoma. I park in the drive way due to the length of the Tacoma barely fitting and the fact when both vehicles are in, you can't open the doors very far. In an emergency (hail storm) we can make them both fit. But for daily parking, it just is not worth it. I don't want my doors dinged up by my kids every time they get out. I don't know the size of my garage...but its got a double door and about 2 feet of room on either side of the garage door

When I was house shopping I hated when it would be advertised as a 2 car garage and yet would have only 1 wide garage door with no possibility of fitting 2 vehicles

I would guess 20'x20' minimum, with nothing else in the garage. Sometimes steps going into the house can impact available space.

The Taco is a bit wider than the Rav4, isn't it?

when you said "small", I'd assume you have 20'x20'? but I think it depends on the areas and who the builder is hah

Quick Google search nets the Tacoma at 75 inches wide, her RAV4 at 73 and the 4runner at 76.

It will be tight but it should fit. I barely fit my DCSB in the garage and my brother has parked it 2010 4 runner in there as well. Snug but fits and I wouldn’t say I have a large garage.

I have a 20x20 in my funky old 1960's house.

Fits a Taco, an 8 foot wide camper, and a small workbench just fine.

Fitting vehicles was a big deal when we chose our house/garage vehicle combo as our neighborhood doesn't allow vehicles on the street or driveway overnight unless it's a guest and that's limited to 48 hours. There's an area to park down the street from us. I was really drawn to the area for that reason. Our previous house had a 70s airstream trailer I was forced to look at for 364 days a year (it was used on the 4th of July only). It brought the entire street down. I'm convinced it cost us money when we sold that house because we could barely back out of our driveway without hitting it. The street were on now looks so much cleaner. We don't have any vehicle prowling either. I wish more neighborhoods would require the same.

Hold out for a 3 car garage. You need a place for the shop tools...

I don't live here anymore, but this was my 3-car garage, which I believe was 22' deep and 34' wide. Both fit in the standard garage door just fine.

    F9CuM0K4GyP5P20nsCT5B3HSUvWQGFS-dJPhSKsV_e13367d9bf5f321c8e4aee3deed02f7c171a6989.jpg

Before there, we lived in a 15-- sq ft house that had a pretty small 20x20 garage. I normally don't post pics with people in them, but this is the best I could find from that house.

yard equipment on one side, and the 4 runner would pull in straight (water heater on that side). I would back the Tacoma up and angle it as close to the wall on the other side. Both driver side doors opened to the middle with plenty of space. I wouldn't go any smaller than 20'x20'

I like the idea of no cars on the road but no cars in the driveway overnight? What about kids cars?

2 car garages vary a ton depending on when built, who built it, materials, garage door configuration ect.

Also completely depends on how much other junk you have.

I design homes for a living and our 'standard' 2 car is 22'x22' (outside dimensions)...so usually 21'4" x 21'8" inside.

Unless your garage is freakishly short a DCSB will fit at only 17.5' long

All of the houses with 4-5 bedrooms have at least a 4 car garage minimum. It seems to work well. The neighborhood feel is really great.
