I’ll start off by saying I’m not much of a mechanic at all. I don’t even change my own oil not gonna lie. I’ve noticed since I’ve had this truck that it leaks loads of oil mostly while driving long distances though. I had the head gasket replaced a few months ago but the leak has still been there. When I crawl down under there I notice a lot of oil on the skid plate and it’s leaking from lower down in the engine. I’ve attached a picture. Seems like oil pan or filter?? Need help thanks, currently my truck is also my house so would like to figure it out.

In my opinion it’s not just the oil pan.
I can see oil dripping from the filter.
Oil doesn’t usually leak UP. It leaks down.

You need to degrease the engine and see where it starts. Oil dye will help.

Could be leftover from the valve cover leak, it's pretty high on the block to just be oil pan.
Get a couple of cans of brake cleaner and spray that crap off, get it clean. Then you'll be able to see what if anything is leaking.
Plus working on an oil coated engine just sucks.

Definitely need to clean off all the gunk so you can tell where it's coming from.
The gaskets on the oil filter mount are easy to replace, so start there.
It could also be a timing chain cover seal, front crank seal, or something higher.
I had a leak at the spot where a distributor would go, right behind where the coil packs mount. You couldn't see it unless you removed the coil packs.

All kinds 3 inch body lift/2 1/2 suspension lift. 31/11 1/2/15 tires All work done by myself for years. The only work performed by mechanic was fuel pumps. I also have a 90 Mustang 350 hp and I can never understand how come my Tacoma gets more respect Just got a 99 Jeep TJ that I rebuilt, and painted in the garage
Mine looks the same. It's a leak at the filter mount. I have not tried to fix it, but have read about it on these sites. Common problem.

Mine looks like that, but I'm almost certain it's coming from around the oil pump. I've ordered a kit from LC Engineering to hopefully remedy that situation.

Clean it up as mentioned. Looks like oil filter seals. I believe you can buy both for about 12$.

If it's that same area then mostly likely that's what you need. Over the years of hot oil make them super brittle

Mine also looks that way, I just replaced the valve cover gasket which was definitely leaking but I'm now trying to figure out if there are other leaks. Not sure if the valve cover leak, which was a trickle, could all drip all the way down to soak the lower area of mine to look the way yours does

Oil travels down and wind velocity will spread it all over. Keep the area clean and just look for anything new. As mentioned also,uv dye can be added to the oil and a black light can assist in identifying the oil leak

I just did mines a couple of months ago. Really helped with reducing the oil left on the pavement after parking for a while. I still get a small drop, but only after parking on an incline for a while.
