    YO
    Half way point!
    Tip:
I didn’t have to remove TB
If u disconnect all harness pigtails, you can set back harness

    Question:
Confused about the lower o-ring that seats into head.
Mine are definitely different and as brittle as glass
Also the ports into the head are
    Freakin full of sand

The brittle ones look more like a grommet
The one on the injectors more of a thick o-ring

    here some pix

looks like these are what I got with injectors
But do not see that old lwr head mounted ‘insulator’ anywhere
    Only that large brittle grommet

When I replaced my injectors I didn't take the plastic seal that goes into the head out. But looks like those gotta be replaced now. Chisel out, install new plastic cups then put injectors in as they are. That extra rubber on the bottom is fine, my new ones came just like that and they work great. Make sure to put a little lube on the rubber pieces.

    A firm^^^

I took a shop vac to the I ports
I can see the injector insulators and removed them

    those head inserts
I didn’t ‘Hulk It’ on them but did crack the lip
Unknown if there is part# or even available

    Will check in am
After I clean up/put away tools

...The brown ones on the right are oem from motorwest for pre 2000....
and are not densos....that was before denso was used in the factory

the pinkys are denso .....2000 they switched to denso made ones ...at the factory...

The blue one in the middle is a generic one from someone in Washington state...trying to match the original oem matsushita brown ones..

This diagram is wacked....5vz's DONT USE CUPS....

only 2rz and 3rz.........I was also corrected about this in the recent past...

in that diagram.....they call those cups....'insulators'....

I assume...so they dont want em to ground out to the head....
the ground must be provided by the a ground on the harness...

......or the ecm switches the injector on/off by switching on/off the ground path...
just like the starter circuit...dont know.....

that makes sense.....that might avoid DC arcing over millions of cycles...

ON RC stuff that use HV 12s lipo packs .....that;s how to avoid arcing...

by switching on the back side of the load....the load(injector) acts as a capacitor ...
so you dont fry the logic switch transistor inside the ecm...

so does that mean the injectors....are always hot.....waiting for an ecm ground....

In an electrical circuit....the electrons actually travel in a reverse path...then what you think...

    what a mind F##k....

Toyota started using the pink tops in the 2RZ when they switched to Coil-On-Plug with the mid-year change over in 2000. Which I believe were the Cali-Spec versions.

    Thanks OS for info/links!
    I think cups are ok
    But
That vacuum leak potential, isn’t something I want to diagnose/track down/raise my blood pressure…..in the future….taking y’all’s advice and buying cups

Bc shipping same for both(freaking $16)
I splurged, got cups AND that $70 FP gauge you posted (in another thread) last week.
Guess will be my Xmas gift to myself….meh

modifying a 3/4 bolt with dremmel as we speak to remove….if stops raining today.
    (Doubtful)

IMG_3705.jpg IMG_3704.jpg As far as injectors
    They are AM
They are exactly the same…..down to small #’s stamped in a raised platform on the injector

Now, I’m going to go out on a limb here re: AM vs. OE

I’m not stating that I’m (AM) is right or OE guy is wrong
I’m just stating my case/decision making

firstly, I would not being stating this if this part was from a late model vehicle (let’s say 2019 thru 2023)

-we got a 27yr old part design here
Undoubtedly, perfected by AM companies over the years
-an OE injector on Toyota website(looks same as above pix^^^) is $172
Adding tax, lets say $800 for four
    This AM set was $60
I could buy 52 injectors as opposed to 4
    Will cheapies last as long?
Probably not. But that’s my labor/time.
    Pretty easy decision IMO

kinda like buying a water pump for an old Chevy 350…..GM doesn’t make those pumps anymore, they have a AM vendor produce, then stamp it with logo and mark the part up.
Again, newer vehicles my reasoning wouldn’t apply

ouch……I can feel the OE hate coming!
