Im looking to build my 1st gen Taco and I’m looking for a little insight on all the UCA options. I don’t want anything super extreme. Im just looking to run some ICON coil overs to get about 2.5” of life and saw that that requires aftermarket UCAs. I’ve explored a couple options like JBA and ICON, but I’m kinda confused as to the differences between the ball joint, Uniball, and delta joint. Anyone have some insight and/or any other brand options that has worked for y’all??

Low maintenance, lower cost, go with SPC's latest UCA via RockAuto.

Don't forget to use the coupon code.

SPC doesn't sell to RockAuto. The SPC "clone" is MEVOtech which can be found there though. Also not SPC, but gets passed off as them. I did notice that the MEVOtech listings are pretty much all updated now to not show SPC bushings in their arms.

Do they still use those updated SPC bushings though?

I know they had a new revised version as of last year?

That I don't know for absolute certainty, but don't think so. Pics of both below. Inside of each arms' bushing. Don't get me wrong though... There's other brands besides SPC out there for a quality arm (JBA, Total Chaos, Camburg, Icon, et al), but I am just saying that MEVOtech is definitely not SPC.

    SPC

And then there's basic build quality... Here's the underside of each arm. Pretty easy to spot the differences here.

There were photos floating around of the Mevotech UCA's that are identical to the bottom pic (SPC).

    I recall the raised edges.

But again what I remember could be useless if Mevotech is using the top picture as they current design.

There was a post about someone ordering a set of arms, where one was the most recent (shown in your bottom pic) and an older variant (not shown in either of your pics).

So here's what I "think" happened...

SPC recalled current production and also did a stop-sale when they were having quality issues a couple of years back on some components. Instead of just scrapping everything they sold it off at "junked" pricing to the secondary market. It got scooped up by the likes of Mevotech who then resold them as new (because they technically were). What everyone ended up getting was a mixed bag of SPC arms from RockAuto. Some had new bushings, some had old. Some had new joints, some had old. People are now getting what I linked in photos due to the stock running out.

Do I know this to be true? NOPE! However, it is the conclusion that I have come to based on what I have seen out in the wild. Talking to SPC in the past they are very adamant that they do not sell to RockAuto or their associated brands.

Don't buy any junk already listed here. Get the best in the market and you won't worry about the quality. Total Chaos UCA's.

I’m quite satisfied with my JBA UCA. I already really like the red lol.

This is my set up going on next week, is it the best nope. There is no best, it's what works best for the individual who wants it. I am a New Englander. and a Uni Ball UCA in the Salt Belt is not a good idea as it won't last long. There are a lot of other better choices out there than TC UCA's

Thanks John, just love fan boys that because they say it's the best we all should think that. I have had JBA 2 times now and had no issues with them except the powder coating flaking off, and the rusting Ball Joint tops which Marlin replaced for free for everyone. Had SPC 2 times and both times sucked before they made some great changes, even had Camburg which were complete junk. Now Dirt King as I have yet to see or hear any negatives about them.

No issues but those sound like issues. I've bought TC once and have had ZERO issues. Total Chaos > jba junk
