I have a 2004 Tacoma SR5 TRD 4X4 5 speed. The truck is totally stock. I bought the truck 3 weeks ago with only 67,000 miles. I was offered a free set of tires. A buddy of mine has only had them for a week and is getting rid of them for a larger tire. They are Pro Comp Xtreme M/T 285/75/r16. I am trying to figure out my options for a lift. I don't do a lot of major offroading but it will be used for a hunting truck. I want a lift that will clear the tires without rubbing and have a little room for offroading capabilities. However, I also want it to fit well in the fenders and provide an overall good look. I do not know much about lifts so any help is much appretiated. Also, I talked to a local dealership that said they wouldn't suggest anything over a 3 inch lift because of wear and tear purposes. The lift I am thinking about is a 4 inch Pro Comp full suspension lift. I don't really see how an extra inch in lift is gonna cause a lot of problems. Let me know what you guys think.

The general consensus is that 3" is the limit without some major upgrades... You will most likely need UCAs to get the truck back into alignment spec. Your CV angles will probably be pretty extreme too.

just to give you some comparisons, here is the evolution of my last truck

2" spacers/AAL and a 3" body lift ( I wouldnt do a body lift again, it was on the truck when I bought it). Those are 33 12x50s on a 15x10 wheel and they rubbed the frame rail at full lock

7" lift ( 4" pro comp and 3" body lift) with the same tires. no rubbing on the frame

9" lift ( 4" pro comp, 3" body lift, OME 881s/N91s ). and still 33s, they were too small at this point

9" lift and the 35s, and they didnt rub the frame rail at all.

i miss that truck sometimes

I needed to be more specific. If you use a body lift or spindles (if you're 2wd) you can go more than 3". But 3" is the unofficial "limit" on the front coils.

i just got they 3" eibach coil spring lift from toytec.com along with the bilstien 5100 shocks it gave me just a tiny hair over 3 " but it rides beutifully (for a mild lifted truck) take a look at them though. i love them. and i am pretty sure with your procomp wheels you wont rub. i put a buddies stock tunda rim with the same size tire as yours and it only rubbed my frame at full lock to the left barely.

thanks for the info on toytec. this lift looks pretty pricey but it seems like a good idea for what i am trying to accomplish. it says it can be set at 3.5".
