Got my kit today. Like I said, they were BO'd on the black, so I got red. I guess it makes it easy to see what I did:

So far, I've only done the engine compartment. I've looked around and fairly sure I got everything there. Didn't see any use of the 4mm (from the kit). Maybe that's under the truck? Where else are there vacuum lines?

    20200829_181941.jpg

This is going to be a franken truck. My new plug wires are blue. I wonder what other colors I can splash in here to uglify it...

Does K&N make bright green intake tubes?

Does the 3.4 have egr? My 3rz has a bunch of hoses under the intake manifold for that.

We replaced gaskets and started reassembling... but we lost a hose on the hat of the intake... way she goes.
I’m thinking the short elbow section comes off of the throttle body, connects to a second hose that runs into the air charge pipe from the filter.

Enlighten us, we can’t find a schematic in repair Fms, or forums so far. On week 2, we have put in the work. Just in the wrong places I recon.
    thanks!

That rubber hose in your 1st pic goes from the vacant tube to the driver side valve cover.
90° end on the tube, let the other end hang straight down. Should end up near the valve cover fitting.

The fitting in your second pic is the "air assist" system supply. A molded hose goes from the fitting to the rear of the engine to a plastic "Y" fitting. Two subsequent hoses then go to fittings on each side of the rear intake manifold.

Is this tube supposed to be connected to anything? I see some photos of it with rubber tubing on both ends and some without.

The emissions sticker under the hood gives specific hose routing. You're right some have hoses connected, some don't.

Not on mine, as others said, the 04 doesn't have that.

I just did one hose at a time. Took a bot longer, but not much, and I had less chance to screw it up.

Wait, I have a 1996 3.4 and I have/had and EGR. I know for sure because I had to replace the hose after it cracked twice before I decided to eliminate it and I had block the ports and put a 10ohm resistor into the plug to keep the check engine light from going off. There’s still egr crap in my engine bay that I haven’t removed but it isn’t doing anything.

I have the same intake. What size was the new hose you used? Is it smaller and have there been any issues since installing that? I might just do the same.

I believe it's the 10mm hose from silicone intakes. I don't remember the exact hose barb size.

I've had the new silicone hoses installed for 7-8 months now, and they are all holding up pretty well, with one exception. The 8mm ID hose that goes from the PCV valve to the throttle body should be replaced with fuel line, not silicone. I replaced the silicone with 1/4" ID fuel line from the local auto parts stores this weekend. Here's what the silicone looked like after 8 months of use, you can see the oil seeping through the hose:

Before I share, I want to state that I have done zero research on quality or differences in the silicone itself.... That said, if siliconintakes had not been back ordered, I may not have looked at other options. The main selling point that they push of the hose itself is the wall thickness when comparing it to "others'". As I was looking around at other sellers, I noticed 3mm was the wall thickness emphasized as a selling point for many. So I contacted silconintakes & inquired into the wall thickness. The very speedy response was .11", which equates to 2.74mm. So do with this what you will. & again, this does not mean their quality of silicon used is not better than others. This is simply in regards to wall thickness which they do advertise as being thicker & while it may be thicker than some, as far as I have seen, it is not thicker than most.

& I want to add that this thread is awesome & thank you to the op for getting it going & doing all the research on both sizes needed & a quality product source.

That’s good to know. I was curious if siliconeintakes was thicker than the ones I ordered because some of my clamps are pretty loose and no longer function as intended.

Also, does anyone have extra 8mm hoses from siliconeintakes they are willing to sell? I need about 2 ft to finish replacing my old hoses.

I know it's not siliconintakes, however long story short (you are spared the short story long kristi today) my original order from a different seller ended up all screwed up (looks like good stuff though). I ended up with it for free, well, minus the inconvenience. One thing was they did not send the 6mm. Anyway, I ordered 4 ft of this last night. https://www.ebay.com/itm/151148774936 I imagine they have other colors/sizes if you just hit up their store front. Other thing is I am seeing that based on the middle of the hose, not the end where it's all stretched out, I am more need of the 6mm than I thought I'd be, so I may have some 8mm left over? & i did see something about it not being a big deal as long as the hoses seal. Just thought I'd get enough 6 to cover the job. Anyway, it'll be a bit before I know if I have any to spare. The 6mm is due in Friday.

Do you know what the foam covering is over the purge valve to throttle body is for? A heat shield? I see pics on here with the hose only being partly covered. Mine is covered from end to end with this covering & can't be reused nor would I want to.
