    Hey everyone,

I was hoping to get some recommendations on third party mechanics that specialize in rebuilding Toyota engines.

My 1GR-FE is running fine and at 250k miles I don’t have any immediate issues. This truck will soon become my second vehicle and I want to start restoring it.

I live in southern Louisiana but don’t have a preference on location or price, just want quality work.

    Thanks

You'll have to specify. Do you mean that you want to do some major service / preventative maintenance to the engine due to higher mileage? <- great idea. Or do you want to replace bottom end bearings and valves and such for the hell of it? <- Terrible idea

250k miles is nothing if it's been maintained well.

If you just want to tinker, why don't you focus your time and $ on mods and improvements. You can do exhaust cam gears, ecu tune, general deferred maintenance like plugs and cooling system maintenance, suspension refresh, bushings, cab mounts, etc...

Yup. From what I recall its a fixed 3 degrees retarded offset of the exhaust valves. The intake VVTi still functions normally

First of all, what diagnostic data have you measured to make this determination? If you contacted tech support as a mechanic with 0 info as such, I imagine they would fire you quickly.

that is not how things work. There is cause and effect. “X motor needs replaced, because X motor was found to have unrepairable rod knock, here is how I found that”

second, that mileage can be nothing, if it is maintained. It is a Toyota. There are German cars with 1m miles that are maintained.

which is why, in addition to it not being a race car, there are few builders if any.

if you really want to throw a bearing in it for no reason, there is nothing stopping you from doing that yourself, having any skilled mechanic do it with the right parts, or doing it on an acquired spare motor.

or, what other folks do with that money and miles here is
    They drive
    And get other things
    Or nothing
    And then keep driving

post has 0 mention of wet or dry compression
    Leakdown
    Borescope
    Oil consumption
    Or really anything at all
Tests that are pretty cheap and easy to do.

while you’re at it, pay a lawyer $10k to defend you in court against a case that does not exist.
Even though you haven’t been charged with anything, were not arrested, and did not receive a summons to appear.
    See what they say
