1/4" is way overkill for anything except the winch mount. 3/16" is pretty standard for plate bumpers.

Check out my bumper build. This was a CBI DIY kit, so there are a lot of extra angles that probably aren't necessary (but look cool, lol), but this should give you a goot idea how to mount to the frame.

Well I have all this material for free I know it might be a little over kill but 1/4inch is easy to stick weld on with an 1/8inch 7018

I might go lighter material on the steel tubing frame because I actually have to pay for it but all of the diamond plate is free and so was the winch

    Explain?

Just curious; only so many shock and coil options available on our IFS.

Well last month I needed to replace all of my front suspension so I put in all forged parts and heavy duty shocks into my strut assembly and front end.

I guess you get what you pay for...

You do you, but that will be excessively heavy. Your bumper alone will easily weigh 200 pounds, and add an 80 pound winch to that? Yikes.

So what if you can stick weld 1/4"? You can stick weld 3/16" too. Speaking from experience here, trying to clean slag out of all the nooks and crannies of a plate bumper is a total PITA. MIG it and you'll save many many hours of prep.

Didn't you know? Our coilovers have shocks with extra struts.

I know I can do both but I just think it would be easier to do 1/4in and I have mig available so I might try that instead I’m going to buy 3/16 for the frame but the diamond plate will still be 1/4in

You're not pissing us off, and really, it doesn't have to be "what it is"

I'd advise against doing an after market bumper if you don't need one. But if you do, do so as @jbrandt suggested.

Out of curiosity, what do your suspension components consist of?

Wasn't aware of any KYB shocks available for our trucks, but if there are, they are OEM replacements meaning no additional weight, etc.
