The title should have read 1999 to 1997 grill swap.

I like the look of the early Tacoma with the small headlights. How involved is it to swap to the earlier grill does it use the same radiator support as the 1999 style? Do i just need to swap out the grill and plastic trim parts or is it more complicated than that? I assume headlight wiring is the same since the 1997 looks like it takes sealed beam headlights and the 1999 uses H4 bulbs?

Thanks seems pretty easy yet complicated at the same time i don't think i want the early headlights that bad i can live with the 99 style. I just dont like the 99 plastic lenses that turn yellow.

I know how you feel. I'm always torn with the 98-00 face. Sometimes I really like it because it's so modest toyota like a T100, sometimes I think it's the ugly stepchild. I think the 98-00 needs a plate bumper like an ARB/4x innovations/CBI, etc and then it looks real good. As for the headlight housings, I'd get some new ones off rock auto or Amazon and apply some sort of protective coating while it's clean. They're not terribly expensive.
