I have a 97 T100 SR5 that would not start after being parked. No power to ANYTHING. Upon inspection the coils were ruptured, so I put in a New battery, new coils, new plugs new fuses and relays and checked all grounds. It now has power back to everything but still will not start. The truck has spark and compression Anything else I should look for?

Were fuses blown? Fuel pump running?

The 15A EFI fuse was blown. I haven’t checked fuel pump yet because I’m trying to figure out why it won’t even fire on starting fluid.

    Is this a coil-pack design?

When you crank the engine, is the speed and sound normal? Is there any indication of attempting to start (smoke, pops, etc)?

Where are you inducing the starting fluid?

Car is Turning over normal. It is the coil pack design. No indication of it trying to start. Starting fluid is being sprayed into the throttle body. The plugs are wet when I pull them out. It has spark with brand new plugs and coils but maybe a weak spark?

Thought about the mass airflow sensor in this situation? I'm trying to remember but I don't think my 5vz would run with the intake hose pulled off the throttle body. Somebody correct me if this is wrong.

Also, not smart to spray starting fluid across the MAF sensor. Hook up the engine like it's supposed to be run, get it supplied with fuel, and if all is well it'll run. If not, pull any codes and start real troubleshooting.

How are you verifying spark? The old, 'lay a plug on the block' method? Even a weak spark should get you a few coughs and farts, especially on ether.

Are the plugs wet with gasoline, and assuming that are they 'normally' wet, or saturated? Is there an unusually strong odour of fuel in/around the engine? I'm wondering if maybe after sitting you have a sticking/leaking injectors. Is this a throttle-body injection engine?

If he's spraying the ether into the throttle body, he's by-passing the MAF, and the engine should still try and start and I would expect run albeit poorly due to unmetered air, even without the MAF in the equation.

Gotta. I remember cleaning my throttle body and it wouldn't run with the intake tube off bypassing the MAF. Don't remember if it would even try to start or not.
