Im looking into doing a 5 speed swap on my 2001 Tacoma. Searching around Tacoma’s and Tacoma specific parts are rare and expensive but T100 parts are as cheap as they come. I’ve found a 1996 T100 that cosmetically looks like shit but runs and drives fine. My question is would the transmission, driveshaft, ecu, master cylinder and petal assembly be a direct fit or at least close? Or would this be a no go and I need a manual Tacoma for parts?
I’ve looked and searched they both have the same engine trans combo but what’s difficult to find is anything on the ecu pedal assembly and DS.

Around Here not many T100 trucks

Ecu/Ecm will be completely different .

Clutch Hydraulics will work But your better off going new parts there and making a new metal line

You are going with the complete Transmission and Transfer Case ??

I can`t recall if the cross members are the same Between Auto and Manual TheT100 is wider then Tacoma

If the drive shaft length is the same it will work depends on the length

Yes you need both pedals swapping to the smaller brake pedal

T100s are plentiful here for whatever reason. Crossmembers on Tacoma’s are the same auto to manual not sure on T100s. Why would the ECUs not be compatible?
    Both are 5VZFE with R150F.

I believe that the T-100 ran the 3.0, like the 90’s pickups. While Toyota usually doesn’t fix thing if they’re not broken there’s likely enough difference that it wouldn’t be plug and play. Just my $.02 worth, and I may be mistaken. I’d look for a part out first gen Tacoma.

    The 96 T100 used the 3.4 V6 not the 3.0

The ECU is different in both the plugs sizes and the pin outs of the plugs.

Even finding the correct ECU for a 2001 5 speed 3.4 there will be repining of some plugs .

I can`t recall what year the ECU started using the same plugs for all applications

You can repin the ECU you have to make it work check out the 3.4 swap section some good write ups on the electrical end

Toyota changed the ECU in 97 to allow for the optional TRD supercharger.

A coworker has one with the 3.0 3VZ just like my old 95 pickup. I can’t say what year his was for sure, it’s the only one I’ve ever had the chance to look under the hood.

Whenever the change occurred the one I’m looking at has a 5VZFE and is advertised as a 96.

There's a really nice looking one on bringatrailer now... and it is RED... I always wondered about
how good they were... I guess you can actually fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the bed :) ... but
the engine is smaller than ours, it must have been pretty sluggish?

T100’s use the R150F, but it’s specific to the T100, and the transfer case drops to the passenger side like old pickups, not to the drivers side like tacomas. You’d be better off sourcing parts from a tacoma just so you know it’ll work

Not to take away from the thread but it’s doing good. Just waiting to do some cosmetic things and get my projectors back.
