Just bought a 96 tacoma and the check engine light came on. Read the code and got P0325, so after some research it seems like the knock sensor or maybe the wiring harness needs replacing.

Very thankful right now I don't have the V6 as it seems the knock sensor replacement would be much harder! I've searched high and low and have seen several people mention that replacing the sensor is a relatively easy fix on a 2.4 but no detailed instructions or pictures. does anyone have diagram or picture they can show me to help me find the location of it?

    Thanks!

Okay thanks! I went and looked on the drivers side and saw a few sensors, and a chewed wire. So I'm guessing that is my issue. Wondering if you can help me identify if it is one of these sensors? I have still not been able to find an engine diagram that identifies the sensors. Will I need to take anything off to replace the sensor and wiring harness?

So now that I'm not on my phone i googled it - its actually on the block, toward the rear end of the fuel filter, and above the fuel filter.

I'm guessing you'll have to unbolt the fuel filter to get it out.

Okay thanks! I think I've got it now. I remembered reading about where the location was last night and saw someone mention that area, but I thought it was for the 2.7. I appreciate the help.

Hard to get to...but easy to change...its just an accoutic sensor that bolts on block...
driver side...below intake headers right were the fuel filter is.....

Cannt remember if I had to remove fuel filter to get to.....but everything is a pain to work in that pocket...
and I seem to revisit there often...lots of stuff there...all critical...all in the way...

2.4 and 2.7 pretty much same except for very few oddities...
