    So I now own a 1995.5 Tacoma. It’s not an SR5.

but I have heard there is a “base@ truck and a “DLX”. Is this right?

what are the differences and how do I determine what mine is?

1st gen SR5 and DLX are options packages, like cruise control, tilf wheel,
    variable wipers, DS lumbar support.
There were also dealer incentive packaged vehicles in early base models like free rear bumper sold during "Toyota Days"
DLX is loaded with all options available
    at that time.
SR5 was a mixed bag of options.
    What's on your Taco?

Look at the sticker on door post.

On the 95-97 models SR5 is actually the top end model. The same package was later labeled “Limited” from 98 on. The LX is the lower trimmed model but can still have options like power mirrors, etc. I have a 95.5 SR5 and it has every option.

The tailgate usually said LX on it?

Could still be a Taco, the first ones premiered in mid 1995

Yeah, Tacoma was introduced to market in February 95 and premiered March 95.
    Could go either way

Well I started thinking about this after I posted. I had a dark blue 1995 SR5 top of the line 5 spd xcab 4WD made in Japan. It was loaded haha even a sunroof and 7 way sport seats (manual adjustment). That as mentioned changed into the Limited.
I do think Toyota did start switching over to NUMMI plant in early 90s. My friend had a 94 automatic same truck as mine and it may have been partially built in California. So long story, I could be wrong. I apologize. I would use the VIN decoder for sure or Toyota owners as suggested. Enjoy your truck post a pic

It is a Tacoma, an early built (1995.5). No markings/badges noting “LX” or “SR5”, etc...

I know it wasn’t an SR5, and I thought SR5 came with bucket seats and console .

    Thanks

I have an 03 SR5 40/60 split bench. Tilt wheel, AC, variable wipers, no Cruise or elect locks/windows like came on DLX.

Hey, I just joined toyotaowners and logged my vin, but it wasn't very detailed. I recall seeing thread on here where someone was able to pull a bunch of more information about the vehicle from the vin, do you know where I might find that? I'm talking about trim package, custom orders, factory seat type, etc...

    Thanks
