Disclosure: I absolutely have no idea what am I doing - so it will be adventures at the very least!

I found an ad on local classifieds and offered $750 Maple Leaf Dollars to an owner of this 1993 Japanese built single cab 22RE stick shift toyota pickup truck that did not start, had no breaks and most people would consider it to be a junk. Somehow I saw another chance for life in this little red truck with only 275K KMs or 170K miles.

The first day when I picked it up with @Joe23 and loaded onto u-haul trailer using Hi-Lift and chains. Took us a good 90 minutes to load it up.

    IMG_0038.jpg IMG_0041.jpg

After brining it home, @Theicemedic, @Joe23 and @gizmatron helped me out to push it into my garage (while it was in first gear, duh @gizmatron :annoyed:) where my part out began!

Interior looks very nice and been taken care by the previous 8 owners.IMG_0052.jpg

First, @Joe23 and I removed truck bed using at least 8 grinder disks, one sawzall blade and lot's of swearing:sawzall:, because thing was rusty to the point where impact gun would not make any difference, we tried... I will be going with aluminum flat bed down the road, Aussie style.

The next step after taking the bed off was to clean up the frame from all the rust.
Again, thanks for @Joe23 and @tacoma16 tools that they let me use I was able to do lot's of work in the past week!

    Before
    IMG_0194.jpg
    After
    IMG_0214.jpg
Still plenty of cleaning, but it is going slowly, there is no rush. :turtleride:
    IMG_0249.jpg
Next, took the interior apart and got an unpleasant surprise, need to make new floor :welder:
    IMG_0193.JPG.jpg

After that I replaced all the belts, flushed radiator, filled with new coolant, changed oil and power steering fluid. Still need to bleed breaks along with replacing rusted out break lines and replace clutch fluid.

    IMG_0198.jpg

Then I tried to start the engine and as it was suspected, fuel injectors were all clogged up, so I ordered some and waiting for parts to arrive to replace them. Surprisingly not much gunk inside of the intake as most YouTube videos I watched about it had.

    Look I am 4Runner now!
Going to trim those fenders to make it fit, unfortunately 89 4runner fenders don't align with 93 pickup truck like many suggest on the web. :sawzall::welder:
    IMG_1073.jpg

In other news, replaced everything that possibly can be replaced, still doesn't strat on it's own :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:

Electrical gremlins are driving me crazy :angrygirl:

You forgot to mention how we thought it would be a good idea to pull it out of that guys property without checking the brakes first...

and how I almost crashed it into the back of your turd when we started going down hill hahahhaha.

You didn't add its nickname either :(

We checked the breaks, they worked for the first 2 minutes and after that it was :anonymous:

The name is changing to something "Slav-Red Neck Customs", since there is less and less rust on that "Rusty Cock" of mine :D

@TeecoTaco :boink: you wanted the build thread!

So finally the truck is up and running! ECU+AFM... Replaced them both and it runs fine now.

Installed all new springs, cylinders, shoes and drums at the back.

    IMG_1272.jpg

After that, I started taking apart front axle (I found one from 82 4Runner!!!!) and prepping it for a complete rebuilt.
Thankfully Low Range Off Road has a great 9 part video that is easy to follow.

Next is FSA rebuilt, build new floors, relocation of a gas tank, new suspension and SAS after Christmas. :dancingbacon:

She is looking better with every day passing.
Drives great around neighbourhood making loud noises :headbang:

Next is to install new muffler, re-arch leafs + AAL, possibly reuse 2018 stock off-road rear shocks, u-bolts and bump stops; weld new floors, install passenger front fender, replace fuel sender unit and assemble interior back together!

Then SAS after Christmas, tubular front bumper, rear lights, Home Depot style snorkel with a legit snorkel head, DIY flatbed and maybe wrap it.

New floors are welded in, also made a new crossmember (had to cut the frame and weld new plates too, because old were falling apart) for shock relocation and used rubber compound to treat the floors. Passed all my water tests - no leaks in the cab. Next is to relocate gas tank, built rear bumper make new seat brackets and finish snorkel before Christmas, so I can focus on SAS after.

I picked up a 85 4runner I was going to build but I don't notice the floor is rotted the whole way into the door jam. So now I'm looking for another one with a good body to make one. I could put plates into the floor...but I'm not good enough to fix the door jam.

You can look into boat sides if it's beyond repair. What I did for my truck is tried to cut metal in the shape of the area as close as possible, then spot welded around and finished with PL glue to seal it all. Everything is holding up and passed all water tests that I put it so far.
