So the other day(4/20/19) while going to pick-n-pull i happen to walk buy a very interesting van, apon inspection i find its a 1987 Toyota van 4wd with only 180k miles, but it runs and drives and could be mine for only 1100$! So after much self debate and pestering from @BartMaster1234 i purchased it. So here it is! It’s pretty ruff on the interior and needs much love but it runs/drives and is street legal.

So here’s its own build thread so i can kinda keep track of progress.

    That's an awesome find.

When I was a kid, and these things still on the road and dealership lots. I couldn't decide if I hated them because they were ugly, or liked them because they were cool.

Most of the time I would see 2wd models, and after some time I did see a few 4wds. Usually they would be the same colors as the PU, and have some of the same style 80s graphics.

Ha! Growing, my parents had the exact same van but in blue. I drove the hell out of that van everything time I went anywhere. I personally enjoyed it and it ran forever. Smart buy in my opinion. Congratulations

Sweet freaking score. Hard to find at that low of mileage and even harder to find in 4x4

Awesome junkyard score, dude! I love old weird Toyotas. I tried to buy one of those vans a few years ago, parked in front of a church with a for sale sign. It was the worst color combination, a maroon and gold two-tone, but it was in great shape and had the elusive 5 speed manual 4X4 drivetrain. But despite my bulldog persistence, I never got a call back nor found a live person at the church....

Looking like a fun project. Way cheaper than a lexus.. theres a forum for those Van's. I forget the name, towed a guys overland version. We need to do my rear leafs soon. They're popping like crazy.

It is. It's not nearly as bad as changing the spark plugs though. Trust me, after 2 times wrenching on that thing you will never bitch about wrenching on a Taco again. lol
