    Hello,

    I'm considering switching from spec 195 75 R14 tires to 195 70 R14 tires.

Obviously, the 70 is a slightly smaller outside diameter. However, the question I have is will the 195 70 R14 still properly fit the original wheels/rims for my Tacoma?

The inside diameters are the same, correct? Is there anything that I'm missing here as to why this won't work?

    TIA

Will fit the rim. Only thing to really be careful when downsizing is the tire load weight rating. I've yet to see a vehicle use a tire really close to weight enough for your change to be a problem but just something to look at if you haul stuff.

Thank you both for the replies!

If going one size up, would there be any issues going to a 205 75 r14 tire from the stock 195 75 r14?

    Yes.
In the past, when I wanted to upgrade, it was easy to go from a 195/75R14 to a 205/70R14. But today, 14 inch tires are becoming extinct in the US. There are still a fair amount of choices in a 195/70R14 tire. But if you want a 205/70 or 75 R14, they may be very hard to find, or you may be limited to off-brand/Chinese tires.
I'm going through this hassle with my '96 base 2.4 2WD Tacoma, that is still wearing the PO's 9 year-old off-brand 75-series Chinese tires. I'm no longer comfortable running those on long highway trips.
But I can still get US-made Douglas 195/70R14s for a reasonable price at WalMart.

    Happy Motoring, Mark

I have a nice set of Kuhmo tires sitting on steel wheels off my 97 2wd in Central, IL... I wish someone would want.
