Wondering if anyone else has encountered an incompatibility with the Entune Premium audio/navigation system installed in 3rd Gen's and iPhones.

I recently leased/bought a 2019 Tacoma Limited, before I drove it off the lot I had an issue with the audio/nav system periodically resetting itself. It seems to be linked to when my iPhone XR (iOS 13.1 update) bluetooth is synchronized with the truck. The dealership gave me a rental- another '19 Tacoma Limited- while they "looked into it" and I encountered the same issue. Perhaps even worse off. Within a 2 mile distance, while the radio was playing an bluetooth synched, the system reset itself 5 times!

Anyone else running into this issue?

FYI- it has been two weeks since I bought the truck and have driven it 5 miles. The majority of time I have owned it has been in service.

This has been a super common issue with 16+ radios. Mind would reboot 3 or 4 times in a row any time I hit the voice button on the steering wheel to use Siri. People keep having problems and there don’t appear to be actual fixes

Any chance you are synchronizing an iPhone to the bluetooth? I have asked other Tacoma owners I know about the issue, it seems to be that those with phones other than the iPhone haven't encountered the issue at all.

I've been having this problem. My head unit resets so frequently that the car entertainment system is useless. We need to file more complaints to Toyota so they patch this integration w/ ios.

Bought my Tacoma about a month ago, and radio started resetting last week. Brought it to the dealer and they “couldn’t replicate it” and called it good... started again the night I picked it up from service dept... NOT happy

New member here....Same problem on my 2019 since I installed the Entune app and did the required update. Called Toyota care and worked through the trouble tree they have to no avail. Called my local dealer and was told that the newer Iphone does have a compatibility issue with no fix yet. Somehow that just doesn't seem quite right. Following this thread to see if a solution comes along. BTW, after installing the Entune app, I have not been able to return the JBL unit back to the way it was prior, drove it for 2 months with the same Iphone and had no issues.....

    Hello
This worked for me and I hope it does for you as well.

Verify with dealership that the system in the truck is up to date. Should be since it’s brand new, right?

Make sure that the iPhone you are using has the latest update. Those things need updates every five minutes, it seems!

Delete the iPhone from truck , truck from iPhone, and reconnect via BT again

Do not connect the iPhone using USB while it’s also connected via BT. I played around with this and the system reboots if I dare do this, even to charge!

If all of this fails, you can remove your phone from BT completely and connect it via USB. Annoying, but it works

Dealership near me advised that this is an iPhone issue and they suggested switching to android. Yup they said that... and they may be right ,I had a galaxy when I bought my 2018 and there were no issues.
    good luck

Thanks for the information and guidance, I have done all that you suggested with the exception of using the USB cord...I will try that. The dealership told me the same thing they told you, ' its an IPhone issue, specifically the IPhone the two latest models of IPhone'. The puzzling thing to me is that mine worked fine with my IPhone XR until I did the Etune app update. Like my wife told me," I should learn to leave well enough alone!"
    Thanks again for the suggestions.

My truck did this with my iPhone 7 when I first got it, then as well as my iPhone X a few months later, then still did it a few months ago with my iPhone 11.

And it may be a “iPhone issue” but if your product doesn’t work with the most popular phone is existence, something it’s right.

I do car stereo installs for a living and Toyota’s are the only vehicles that have these issues with iPhones so I don’t really agree that it’s an “iPhone issue”

well an update is in order......after Iphone did the last update, 13.3, my phone has synced with the truck and has no problems with the rebooting issue. I have probably jinxed myself by saying this out loud, but for now it works fine. Thanks again for the advice given and best of luck to those still trying to solve the issue.

Just did this with my truck. The head unit renamed itself to “hands free” and would no longer find or connect my phone, wouldn’t make phone calls or even display text messages. The only thing to try was deleting the truck from the phone’s Bluetooth and vice versa on the truck. Then re-connected the two with the proper Bluetooth name for the truck. So far it seems to work, but I haven’t made any calls yet.

Just had this pop up with 5k miles on truck after latest iOS update.

    delete phone from truck.
    delete truck from phone.
    Pair phone and truck
    Do not sync contacts.

    no more issues.

I have a new 2020 Limited. My iPhone is a 6 v12.4.4 I have it paired via bluetooth. No problems. No reboots.

I do have one problem. Entune is not available for my truck! I downloaded the app onto my phone. When I either scan the VIN or enter the VIN manually the app says Entune isn't available for my vehicle. I called Toyota and got her to admit there is a problem with Entune.

So I'd like to ask, has anyone with a 2020 premium JBL system been able to get Entune to work?

Same problem. I’ve had the truck since June with no issues using an iphone 8. Switched to an XR two weeks ago and reset occurs non-stop. The worst part is that my girlfriend has an XR and she connects without any resets at all. So f@&king aggravating.
