Hey guys, looking for some advise on some scheduled maintenance that is coming up on my truck. This is my daily so I am looking for ease of mind as the truck is getting to be a little older. I am planning to do the full timing belt/water pump replacement as well as transmission fluid, diff fluid, fuel filter, a coolant flush, and an oil change.

    background info:
    2002 4x4 V6
175,000 miles on the clock, last timing belt was done at 89,000
    New rack, inner/outer tie rods
power steering return line is slowly leaking and spraying all over, I believe it is where the hard line turns to a soft hose.
51440149_491956121331449_4511145352333623296_n.jpg In the picture it would be the top hose, but it actually ends up below the silver one. The problem is originating there and then getting tossed around the engine bay. I know it is a bad picture but that is the hose that is leaking and I plan to at least replace that.

    Questions:

1.) Are there any other recommended jobs to do while I am in there, even it is some engine life longevity suggestions. I am really love to get 500,000 miles with this truck, as I just got a frame swap

2.) Suggestions, or part #'s for the power steering line, or should I swap the whole set up?

3.) I am getting a lifter tick sound when I am idling, hard to tell if it happens when I am driving due to road noise. I used 5 quarts of 5w-30 oil and 1 quart of 0w-30 on accident, could that be an issue? Valve lash adjustment?? Any suggestions here?

I have done bit of searching for information and not nearly enough reading. Even if it is pointing me in the right direction that would be awesome. I plan to do the work myself/with a buddy and would like to get everything to do all at once.

ball joints, control arm bushings, tie rod ends (inner and outer), steering rack bushings,

Here's a quick google search I did. You can also look in your manual if you still have it, or google one to find the maintenance schedules.

    https://www.driverside.com/service-...ota-tacoma-2004-4258-9162-26864?page_offset=4

Basically, just read through all the maintenance items, and if you think (or you know) an item hasn't been done or could be behind schedule, add it to the list.

Make sure your rear axle pressure valve is either replaced or working, cost 10 dollars.

If it gets stuck you will loose your axle seals

looking for some info or topic thread on the fuel filter, haven't had mine changed in literally decades since the mechanics stopped recomending it at some point in the past, may have been at the 30k or 45k ... need to dig out my maintenance records.
It looks like a 12d part at camelback ... any threads or good info on where and how to get at it? ... do you need an ASE to do this work? ... my ancient '79 corolla hatchback had fuel filter top side that was so easy to unclamp and change I recall but no clue about my truck

Yup it under the truck right under the seat area, its pretty easy to do, just make sure you
have a boxed type wrench that goes almost all the way around the fuel line nut
Maybe its call a line wrench

How’s your valve cover gaskets holding up? I replaced mine along with spark plug tube seals and half moons etc. If replacing while the throttle body is off I recommend cleaning it and your IAC if it’s stock. Mine was really dirty and I developed a high idle after washing gunk down in there when cleaning my tb.

sure hope the heck my stuffs does NOT start acting up like yours seems to have, the bold items in question
was a small weep noted on the rack during one of the prior inspections from months back
