Hello Old and New Friends ~

I’ve been on an extended hiatus… But I’m coming back with a long awaited 2022 Army Green Sport AC 4x4 and immediately needing to change rims/tires to settle in comfortably

So I’ve come to my favorite forum for some advice/guidance and of course pictures!

Here’s what I’m looking to install:

17” SEMA TRD PRO style wheels

    17x8” +5mm offset
    Bolt Pattern: 6x139.7
    Hub Bore: 106.1mm

    265-70-R17 BF Goodrich KO2’s

    Stock suspension

Will the TPMS sensors swap over from the stock Sport rims to these “knock offs”..?

Has anyone gone this route and have any positive or negative feedback to share?

In the past I’ve strictly gone OEM components. So “knock offs” are new to me, but in this case I’m liking the 8” rim width and the +5 offset for the stock suspension vs OEM 7” width and +4 offset

    This and that
    It’s not a knock-off

The sensors should work but sometimes they don’t for multiple reasons. Batteries.

    might as well go 275

also I think the sema rims are 7”?

The knockoffs are 17x8, oem is 17x7.

I think the TPMS should swap over. I bought a new set of TPMS at the dealer instead of swapping mine though, but its OEM and fit fine.

Does anybody know why they are called SEMA wheels?

Personal opinion when it comes to wheels, they should provide more than looks if making an investment. I will only recommend beadgrip/beadlock/beadstuds and offset that would help your current suspension/tire combo. Speaking of tires I’ll recommend 255/80r17. Cheers!

“The term SEMA is associated with wheels in the US because it stands for Specialty Equipment Market Association, an organization that was originally called the Speed Equipment Manufacturing Association (SEMA)”

255/80/R17 Would certainly look better, But wouldn’t they rub on stock suspension with a +5 offset?

I knew what SEMA meant, but I don’t know why those wheels are called that. No they will not rub. I always recommend that size over any other if you’re not committed to 35”s and up.

Hey S. My knockoffs are made by Replika, so I have a feeling they are all made at the same factory, but I may be wrong. Anyways, they have the exact same specifications as yours, and short answer is YES the TPMS sensor swap did work for me, no issue whatsoever. Nothing but positive feedback here.

Matter of fact, I'm on my 2nd winter here, and they still look new. I am even still using the oem chrome nuts. Been thinking of going the black nut route, but think it looks fine.

One caveat though: You choice of tire size could rub, which may force you to use spacers, due to the +5 offset.

Looking through your album, it appears your Tacoma is sitting on the TRD Lift Kit (or a very similar setup) Looks Great and I Like the TiKi Taco picture!

Thank you for the TPMS sensor feedback. That settles that question ✅

Your caveat is an interesting one as I “thought” 265/70R17 was within wheel well tolerance on stock height… but perhaps changing the offset from stock sport rims @ +30 to TRD Pro reps @ +5 pushing the wheel out in essence 1” could make it run…..

This is why I’ve come to those that have gone this route before me. Come share your experience, inquiring minds would like to know

stay with the chrome nuts. that is what I have, although on a black truck. I like the little bit of chrome to contrast with it.

They’re called SEMA wheels because TRD debuted them at the SEMA show.

Here is my 2 cents: DX4 16x8 +10 offset (you can also go with the 17") with 265/75R16. I went with the 16" to get more sidewall - it looks more bada$$ IMHO and is better for off road - you didn't say you are going off road so maybe that does not matter and what looks good is in the eye of the beholder. Anyway the 265/75R16 ran with no rubbing on my 2022 TRD Off Road on stock suspension TPMS no issue with the DX4s - so there is that.

Ya, the tire size is not an issue (with or without a lift), it's the offset of the rim.

P.S. I have the Bilstein 5100 lift, not the TRD lift (which is very similar)
