    "A 15 inch wheel" isn't enough information.

    If it's a 15-inch Tacoma wheel, it's almost certainly a 5-lug wheel and definitely won't fit on a 6-lug 4WD truck.

    4 run, 2 don't
Before you invest in anything, do you have any plans to upgrade your brakes in the future?

If so, something like Tundra calipers won't clear.

But as of now with stock calipers and brakes I can clear with 15’s correct?

Not 100% but I’m going to say no. I think you’ll have clearance issues between caliper and wheel. My friend wanted to run 15s on his 2000 t4r and they wouldn’t fit.

"it depends" is your answer. Some of the earlier models definitely came factory with 15" wheels. There are hundreds of people running 15s on 1st gen Tacomas. You're probably just going to have to try them. Grind the caliper a bit if they don't quite fit. It's going to come down to offset.

Unless the calipers got bigger by 2004 I only run 15" 6 hole Toyota Aluminum wheels on my Tacoma.

Now some of the older steel wheels don`t clear the calipers that was a very interesting day.

It comes down to just what wheels

It depends on the wheel. I’m running 15s and they just clear the caliper. Some wheels don’t and people grind the caliper ( not ideal). Best thing to do is find people with a similar set up and ask. But yeah no tundra brake upgrade if you do with 15s. Also your tire options will be less. That being said I like my 15s

The rears fit no problem, some wheels fit the front without caliper contact and some require 1/4" spacers. Wheel design plus back spacing are important. You won't know for sure until you test fit them yourself.

As others said, There are many factors, even just the shape of the inside of the wheel, backspacing, width that can make or break the fit. Also, not all 6 ligs are crested equal, obviously you need to match the bolt pattern/diameter, too.

He older tacomas did come with 15” wheels, but you just won’t know for sure until you try them.
