My tacoma came with 14 inch tires, 1995 base model, 5 sp. I have been having problems getting 14 inch tires. I would like to switch to 15 inch, can I just buy 15 inch rims, and is there a size 15 inch tire that will keep my speedometer correct. Will 15 inch rims from a newer tacoma fit correctly. Its runs and drive as new with 265,000 on it, trying to help it go further down the road, have owned since 1995,

    5 lug, correct?

The tire calculator will give you comparative sizes for diameters. Of course you are presuming your speedo is correct today. Most read a bit fast at 60.

My 5 lug came with 215x75 tires. I now have 235x75 tires on stock wheels, no lift, no rubbing, no cutting. I would suspect 15" wouldn't be a problem.

Two other places to poke around though. We have a 5 lug forum, and we have a wheel/tire forum. Using the search feature in one or both will likely find your answer

Also, Tire Rack is showing a few 14" tires in your size range.

my base is geared for 215 70R14's...
closest size to match OD oem was 215 65R15 or about 225 60R15....
its like half a mph off.....

    Play with the calculator.......

    Some even do 16's.....
Even the 15's are starting to get limited in sizes and brands, at least on the premium brands....Couldnt get the mich's I wanted less than 225's....

Easiest is to just get some stock 5-lug Tacoma wheels (15" is a stock size on these trucks) from a wrecking yard or ebay or something.

That will ensure you get the correct lug pattern and backspacing/offset for the wheels. Then just get the stock size tires. If you use the tire size calculator linked above, you'll be able to get the same outer diameter. But even if you go up in diameter a small amount, you're not likely to notice any difference in driving.

I’m the original owner of my 1986 pickup and yes it’s getting a little tricky with the 14’s, I found these GENERAL tires a little less then a year ago and I’m pretty happy with them
