Looking for some rear suspension fab advise.
    19’ o/r,
The issue is I ordered (thought I ordered) bil 7100 12” shocks 31.1”/19.5 but I received 14” shocks. Is it as simple as welding the bottom shock mounts farther down the axle?

    -bamf shock relocation kit
    -bamf shackles
    - all pro o/r expedition leaf pack (they say “3in lift but I hear it’s a little more? Ap-306742

I’m sure it has already been answered here somewhere but I can’t find…I believe the limitation of droop and stuff is on the leafs?

I don’t want get everything torn down and ready to weld up on a lift just to realize (at full stuff) the lower shock mount will have to be hanging down like a naked man squatting. I’ll return and get the 12”ers…..

I don't know anything but you need to make sure that your brake lines are extended if you are getting more travel. If the shock is welded such that some travel is already consumed at max tuck and its less than or equal to factory travel you'll be fine without changing anything

I would remove the shock and flex the rear to the limits and take measurements. If you are fabricating custom mounts atleast you can make sure you have the travel to match the shock and find the best place to mount that will give the best travel and control without limiting.

I used a forklift on the rear of my old Explorer when I fabbed up my shock mounts and was able to get 32" of rear travel on stock springs with a spring over conversion. I was pretty happy. I just wished the front flexed like that...

32” of suspension travel with stock springs? Did I read that right? That’s trophy truck like travel. Are we talking about a trailing arm suspension?

he probably means between one wheel at max droop and other at max tuck

Let me correct myself. I could lift a rear tire 32" before lifting another tire. I shouldn't have used the word travel. It was flex... sorry...

I was pretty impressed with 32" of difference between the left and right side though... it flexed hard.

You do realize the ford TTB front suspension is the best technological invention ever Made. IFS . yup
Strong tank design with floating hubs . yup
U joints for easy fix and strength . yup
Pitman arm for strong steering box. Yup
No center cross member to bottom out on like a dumb A arm truck … yup.

only the real ones know about TTBs

yes you can just weld the lower shock tab rotated down to make the shocks you have work. The disadvantage is having them hang lower below the axle.

most people run 12” shocks with relocations because even the flexiest leaf packs only get about 12.5” of travel but there’s plenty of folks out there with 14” shocks.

If you can’t exchange them or don’t feel like waiting for replacements I’d say run them.

Dana 44 TTB. Strong like bull but no flex. I had 4 inch drop brackets and a Superlift 5.5" spring in the front. I forget what the shocks were. The only weak link was the auto hubs that failed the first time I went out. I swapped them for warn manual hubs. That front end never failed me.

Yeah I ran the stock Dana 35 beams , cut and extend 4” over , with Dana 44 outer knuckles. I had a fox 12” coil over in their pulling around 15” of wheel travel upfront. I assume that means a lot of flex. I mostly blasted through the desert with it .

this brilliant chap runs D44 extend beams on his Tacoma(I think it’s actually a bronco frame grafted on the stock one , cab forward)

I do have the extended brake lines also. I can return and the 12” are in stock at summit across town.
I’ll flex it out and make some measurements

That is impressive, for slow technical stuff, I found that it wouldn't flex very well. It certainly swallows up those jumps quite easily.
