I have the kit for 2005-2010 and find the quality of the kit excellent overall. My one gripe is the instructions for plugging in the harnesses to the module is non-existent. YouTube video skips over this also. I got mine installed best guess with harness to the module, programmed module, and tested. My engine cranks but it won't start. It cranks for a long time, like 6 seconds. But no fire. So I step on the brake and it stops. I called and spoke to 12volt solutions staff, they were helpful. I am going to try again tonight to get it working. Support staff told me the doors have to locked for engine to fire. I might have made that mistake, not sure. But it would be nice if it didn't even turn over if doors were unlocked. I will try again tonight and post back with an update.

Anyone having issues where the truck stays unlocked while you remote start the truck?

My remote start USED TO automatically lock the doors after I shut it off.
After my frame replacement (?), tried the auto start, and it would crank, not start. Found a disconnected wire in the unit under the steering wheel. Plugged it back in, it starts, but now have to lock the doors myself, and shut the motor with a different button on the fob. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
At least the auto start works again. ( it was already installed on the truck that I bought, used.)

anybody knows the realistic range on the key fob? I park my truck quite far away from my apartment (the only available parking spot with a roof), and would like to be able to turn it on from inside my apartment. Its probably like 500' or a lil bit more away.

I ran into that same problem with the connection to the module aswell.. No instructions on that. Took my best guess and got it wrong, so the truck cranks but won't start. It was the weekend so no support from 12voltsolutions. I was able to figure out which connection goes to where on the harness and module and got it to work after.

If you hold the fob to your chin, you get more range.

I figured mine out also. The 2005-2010 harness goes on top of the main harness and only the 2005-2010 harness plugs into the module. Mine works great and I really like it. But the instructions get a thumbs down from me. The YouTube video and paper copies need more detail for the last module plug in steps.

I installed on 2017, honestly took me an hour to install, actually hooking up the remote start takes 5 minutes, the remaining 55 minutes is taking off/re-installing hardware. Hit lock 3x to start, after started hit lock 3x to turn off. Best money spent ever.

Then I’m not worried, I’ve taken my interior so many times that it’ll be a breeze. I can’t wait!

Installed my 12.Volt Solutions Remote start yesterday and it is fantastic ! Took a little troubleshooting with them to reset the module since it would not program but they were very helpful and responded within a half hour of my inital customer service inquiry. Great product. I love the "Pit Stop" Mode. You can park you car at Wawa, go into pit stop mode, Take the key out of the ignition and go inside while it is still running, with no key in it and you lock your doors so noone can get in. Noone can steal your truck either if you even leave the doors unlocked, because without the key in the ignition, when you hit the brakes, the truck turns off.

Highly Recommend this Remote Start option :kona::broccoli::dancingbacon::bananadance::jellydance::headbang::locked::yay::taco:

I had no trouble with the remote start kit. I am adding the the Long Range Remote kit and can't get the new FOBs paired to the mini LRR module that comes with this kit and plugs into the remote start module. You are supposed to press the start button on the truck to turn it on, then press the button on the Long Range Module and release-then press again and hold. The module LED is supposed to start flashing and keep flashing until you press the lock button on the new remote FOB. My module LED only flashes twice and goes out. So I can't get the new FOBs paired to the Long Range Module. I have been calling and emailing my issue since last Friday with no response. Nobody answers and you can't leave a voicemail and they direct technical issues to send an email. :annoyed:

Okay. I have had the kit since October 2020. I elected for the long range remotes and phone module. Install was easy if you have ever taken the dash apart. They actually have install videos on 12volt support hub for the connections to the module. My issue is the unreliability of the doors locking. I spoke to 12volt tech support Jaime, who claimed to never run into this issue previously. I did the expert exchange and reinstalled a new module and all new wiring. Worked flawlessly for about 2 days, and now the doors are back to not locking. I put in another email to technical support and hopefully they can resolve it.

I was told your mouth had to be open WIDE as well. As you're essentially turning your mouth into a dish antenna. 3x the range vs closed mouth.

Spoke to 12V solutions about my issues with doors not locking upon start. They sent out a replacement harness for the door locks and everything has worked flawlessly.
