I have tried everything short of replacing my rear leafs. I have 3" lift blocks in the rear which I know sucks, and I can't lose the vibes on initial take off. They're almost gone, but still there. Diff shims, carrier shims, 50 different combos, angles blah blah blah nothing works. Now that the Tom Woods option is gone, has anyone tried anybody else for a one piece? And, are they really the be all end all? What are your experiences. Thanks

If they were the "Be all, End all". Tome Woods would still be selling them.
And don't take it form me. Take it form him.

    *Discontinued*
Due to this product's inability to fix Tacoma drive shaft vibrations 100% of the time, and because of the extra costs incurred by us and our customers when handling returns when they don't work as expected, this drive shaft has been discontinued.

So NO. They won't cure the vibs all the time.

The one piece from Tom Woods solved all of my driveshaft vibes. When I spoke to them about the discontinuation of the driveshaft for the Tacoma, I understood it to be largely due to the incorrect install of their driveshafts. Meaning, the buyer either had their axle shimmed or angled out of TW's recommended starting angles, or they just installed it backwards. Resulting in numerous back and forth shipping which made it not worth their time.

Their opinion on the one-piece driveshaft was that it did fix the Tacoma's driveline vibes.

OP, if you can find someone that would make one, I think it would be worth it. Or, seek out someone that can add double cardan joints to the 2 piece driveshaft. I believe that was the main solution in solving the vibes.

Sounds like they just got tired of the customers bullshit. My driveshaft from them is perfect. Of course, I also double checked everything else, got rid of my shims. Etc.
I’m sure some customers did absolutely nothing else and expected the TW shaft to fix everything including a leaking head gasket and when it didn’t they wanted their money back. I can’t say I blame them for discontinuing.

Yeah, thats essentially the exact story I had heard back when they discontinued making them. Too much back and forth / too much cost and time dealing with returns. Really wish I had pulled the trigger back then

Any good driveshaft company can make a 1 piece,Tom Woods is not the only place in the world making them.

Tom Wood could of kept making them and listed them as NO returns.

Driveshaft have been around forever since the invention of the vehicle. In my local area there’s DriveshaftPro and I used since they are local. I guarantee there’s a local place to you that can make, repair or service your current one.

of course anyone can make one. The point of a company that already had the dimensions and parts dialed in is to just pick up a phone or hop online and order it then swap it on to your truck. No Bs. I could make a computer too if I wanted. But I’d rather just go to Best Buy and pick it up and plug it in. Who wants to deal with disgruntled driveshaft shop employees and downtime of them making your shit.

Thanks. There are shops in my area I can use but I know nothing about their quality. Did the Woods shaft have a cardin joint? Has anyone tried Action Machine or Dorman?

Errm.. there might be your problem.

I have Deaver U402 leaf springs on back which give about a 2.5" lift. Combined w/ FOX coilovers giving a front lift of about +2", I have no issues with vibration, no need for shims, diff drops, etc.

If you’re not sure of their quality then ask for their guarantee. At the end of the day you’re trying to modify a part to make it to work into your application. Any reputable shop it’s going to be able to re use the rear flange and go from there.
