That's quite an accomplishment for any vehicle. A few years back I read about a Tundra that made the million mile mark. I need another 850K to match.

    Oh look, another mod....

This quote from the story will fire up a great debate:

"As shop owner Sasa Bolesnikov tells me, they've done little more than regular oil changes every 5,000 miles. The Tacoma has been fed a steady diet of Mobil synthetic 5W30, even though the owner's manual doesn't call for synthetic oil, and it's monitored incessantly."

Now we can sit back and wait for "No, it should be 10k miles" or "If you want it to REALLY last, do it every 3k miles!"

This Toyota Tacoma Has Driven 1.5 Million Miles, But There's A Catch (topspeed.com)

This guy in NC is at 1.5 million miles. His original engine needed a new head gasket at 880,000. The engine was still good otherwise, but he decided to replace it with one from a scrapyard. The replacement engine had 100,000 on it. Currently the 2nd engine is at 600,000 miles including the 100,000 it had before.

The transmission had to be replaced at 1.3 million. But that is pretty good. He didn't change transmission fluid until 400,000 miles then each 100,000 after that. There have been several articles online about this truck and not all of the specifics are included in the above article.

He changes his oil once a month regardless of miles. But it works out to about 8000-10,000 miles each month.

lol, I usually get it about the 8k mark as well, but I check it at least every 2.5k (ish) even sometimes at 7k I still have good level and color.
