Bilstein 5100s set at 1.75" and rear 5100s with Firestone Ride Rite air bags, BFG All Terrains 265 70/17, Devil Horns, Nfab light bar, Baja Designs Squadron Pros, led bed lighting, trailer harness relocation bracket, Arrow topper, custom ski rack
Anyone running Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT275/70R17 (Load C) with 5100 Bilsteins set at 1.75" on stock OEM coils? I will probably go with a 265/70/17 due to weight and fit, but I am curious...

The Cooper AT3 275/70R17 Load C weigh in at 53 lbs compared to BFG All Terrain 275/70R17 Load E at 55.4 lbs.

    Thanks.

I'm running the Cooper AT/3 265/70/17 but with 885x and Billys at 0. Only have a couple hundred on them but happy so far.

Look at price and weight when considering the 275 - that was deal-breaker for me........

Almost................Do have 5100s set @ 1.75 on stock coils. AT3's, NTG's & one other were on my short list for new tires recently. Punked out and went with NTGs again because of the known factor of price, how they look on the truck, how they act & how they last. Sorry, no help.

I have that setup except I am at .85 in front.

Tires wear good, handling is okay. Cant really compare to anything else as they are all I have run since getting my truck.
I have a occasional vibration up front sometimes at highway speed. Balanced the tires several times but still shake. Last few weeks I found my front driver side axle is loose because the needle bearing is shot. Once I fix that I will no better if the vibe is from the tires or the axle.

I'm interested in the same setup. Question is how the AT3's perform off-road.
oh second point, I hear Load C just rides nicer than Load E

OP, you got your weights mixed up. The Cooper Discoverer AT/3 is 53 lbs in the E load. C load is 47 lbs.

I did some rough calcs (okay actually not so rough) and I figured out that the mass moment of inertia of a 275/70r17 AT/3 is actually less than that of a 265/75 r16 BFG ko2 in the 10 ply (load E) let alone the 275 BFG.

In fact, the AT/3 comes in a 285/70r17 that is a 4 ply (B Load) that weighs about the same as the 275/70r17 Load C and has very similar inertial specs.

In short, fear not! Go big!

Are you going to run aftermarket wheels? If not I would not stress the weight in the least. Also I'm set at 1.75 up front however running toytecs adustable Bilstein on 265/70/17 duratracs and if you aren't running the right psi everything will run hard and rattle the crap out of your insides. Go 265 gy duras no trimming and will give you a meatier look, hum, and good all around drivability

    Update on my findings...

I've been checking around with local tire shops and they are all pushing the BFGs KO2s in 265/70/17 load C. I have been told the Cooper AT3 275/70/17 load C are too tight and require minor inner fender trimming, removal of front mud flaps and tire runs very close to the UCAs. I want to keep my flaps.

I see a lot of Tacos running 265/70/17s with either spacers or Bilsteins and they look too small.

Anybody else out there running the 275/70/17 setup with stock aluminium wheels, 1.75" setting on Billys with OEM coils?

    Thanks!

@Lola hey man here are some images of my truck pre front bumper install and the day of. Either way it's a good way to see 265/70/17 duratracs on 17x8.5 wheels. There is no way if you go up 1.75 up front that you should need to trim a thing. That's assuming you are going aftermarket wheels. Hope the images give you an idea of what you're trying to gain about sizing and looks. I can tell you first hand that there is very little diffence from 265 through 285 and as long as you can have a good shop do your alignment you're going to be in great shape. Also remove the flaps those things rub the ground just going over large speed bumps.

    I currently have the AT3 - 285/70r17
B-4 ply on Billies with the Eibach 521600 springs. Good tire - not too heavy.

Nice! Been hoping to see someone on here running the 4 ply. What's the gas mileage like? Also, which wheels are you running? I like the stance on your truck. Tires aren't sticking out 2 inches past the fenders. Awesome!

Aired up to 38 psi - on the interstate I'll get around 19 average - running 70-75mph. In town I run them at 33 psi.

Wheels are 4Runner Trail 4th generation.

Did you have to use spacers or do any heavy duty trimming to clear the 285s?

No trimming needed. But it's helpful to have adjustable upper control arms so you can center the lower arm in the wheel well then adjust your alignment via the top. That way there's no rubbing or cutting needed.

My Bilsteins are at the lowest clip setting and the 521600 spring gives about 2" of lift. I do have a 1/4" lean top plate spacer on the drivers side.
